Rachele Fico will be a freshman this year at LSU.

Here are her states;

Fico compiled an impressive 105-3 record with a stifling 0.07 ERA at Masuk High School in Connecticut. She racked up 1,884 strikeouts over 775 innings, 46 no hitters and fired 26 perfect games, a national high school record. Fico's list of accolades includes 2008 and 2009 Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year along with Louisville Slugger/NFCA and EA Sports High School All-America First-Team honors

wow that is an high school pitcher

What I find interesting is that she's from the north, yet was a top recruit at an SEC school. You go girl.

That right there shows why in order to reach that level of play (SEC, PAC-10, BIG-12), you have to play for someone who travels alot of of the state of Ohio. Until we get on the map and the softball world respects this state, we must send girls to play for national level teams, and not stay at regional areas like Michigan, Pennsylvania, etc. We must travel abroad. That is what helped Tess Sito when she played for the Elyria Sundogs and we have another girl who is pursuing that exact same dream (only to get knocked on by some who post on this forum). But expressing MHO. :D

You just had to do it...........Lol!! I couldn't agree more though, if your goal is to play in one of those conferences, you will have a better chance if you play a national level type schedule. Look at the players OSU has brought in recently, west coast girls are coming in and contributing right away, because the competition they play against gets them ready for that level of play. I am going to go find my Flak jacket now.

By facing teams outside of Ohio who play constantly in warm weather. As other posters stated, she probably had other choices to big name schools, but choose CSU. Why, probably wanting to help a college program that is up and coming and she if she can get it over the hump. Maybe wanted to stay close to family.

I believe last year CSU went to the sweet 16 before losing to Michigan in the college world series. Don't quote me on how far they went, I just know it was the farthest CSU has gone. So maybe Tess thinks she can help win it all. I'm not her. They're a young scrappy group.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My dd has dreams of playing for Arizona. I know she's in the right organization to help her get to those dreams. Her coaches, and the coaches in the organization, played professional ball so they know what it takes to get there.

I understand the elite players playing National scheduale but I believe that is probable 1 out of a thousand. As far as helping Tess get recruited i was just saying going all over the country probable did nothing to get her recruited by Clev. State.

Not for CSU, but we don't know if she was recruited by other colleges. If she wasn't, at least it helped put us on the map. Look what she did against Tennessee. You're probably right with the 1/1000. But for that 1/1000, we should support and not bash (especially from Ohio).

Who is bashing her ???
I think elite players like Tess should go out west and down south if there goal is to play for a college out there or down south.

For the other comment, the Sundogs played in SC, Vegas, and a few other states.

Sorry I remember that one the Ohio girl playing with N.J. team
I truly believe Tess could have played for almost any D1 school in the country, and I'm sure she was VERY heavely recruited by some of the elite. It's really is nice to see her stay in state and help Cleveland State get on the map Nationaly. they do have a nice softball program.

The college world series is the top 8. CSU was in the top 64 regionals because they won their Conference or conference tournament. They did not play Michigan, they lost to unranked Notre Dame and Miami of Ohio and then went home. CSU will need a lot more than Sito to get past any Regional tournament. They will have to be competing against highly ranked teams like Michigan, Northwestern, and Ohio St. They are not even close to those teams.
Last season OSU and CSU met in New Mexico and OSU won 10-2 in 5 innings against CSU ace Macenko. OSU logged 13 hits in 5 at bats. When the home team OSU got to the mercy rule they had none out, 2 runners LOB and the game ended.

The college world series is the top 8. CSU was in the top 64(?) because they won their Conference or conference tournament. When was that anyway? It wasn`t in this century. They lost in the Ann Arbor Regional last year:

Like I mentioned, don't quote me on how far they went. To be honest, I haven't followed college softball until recently. Yes they need more than Sito. Yes they need to face tougher competition. It is also the farthest that they have gone too. The fact they are bringing in better talent says they are going in the right direction.

Hmmm... Let's not forget that "CSU with ace Macenko" handily beat OSU at the Kent State fall invitational tournament a year ago. On any given day strange things can and do happen... Question is, what was OSU doing sinking to THAT level "competing" with THOSE teams???
