Who do you think is the best Short Stop at the 14U, 16U, 18U Level and why do you think that?

What High school team does she play for?

What travel team does she play for?

Does she play other positions?

Does she have a good bat?

Just to get this rolling

1. Erin Luther - She goes to Massillon Perry and is a Junior. She plays for Grand Slam 18U in the summer. She can bunt, slap, hit for power. She has a powerful yet quick arm. Very talented player.

2. Lindsay Arney - She goes to Fairless and is a Junior. She plays for Ohio Wolfpack 18U in the summer. She too can bunt, slap, and hit for power. She also has a very quick release and she is very fast on the bases.

3. Jess Carmichel - She goes to Dalton and is a Junior. She plays for the Ohio Bandits 18U in the summer. She is also a very talented batter that can slap, bunt, and hit for power. She is very athletic and gets rid of the ball very quick.

4. Kayla Ashbrook - She goes to Massillon Jackson and is a freshman. She plays for the Black Ice 16U in the summer. Another very well coached and disiplined girl. She has all the tools to bunt, slap, and hit for power. She also fields everything and gets rid of the ball very quick.

Lisa Brinley a Jr. for Greenville also plays on the Ohio Wave 18U team.

Smooth as silk as a fielder and range that is unmatched. Gets to more balls then any SS I have in a long time. This year up at the Wendy's Classic she really stood out as a defensive gem.

Can hit with some power but has a great short game as well with her speed. With the numbers she will post she has a chance to be an all-state player this year and next.

Has started every game at SS for the GreenWave for the past two years. I can'r remember the last time that she had a error.

Crazyman-
You are correct Paige Licause is right up there with the rest of them. I believe she played SS for Manchester. She plays for the Ohio Attack this year. Strong arm, intense player and get hit the ball a mile.

I think another girl that impresses me everytime I see her play is the SS from Alliance. Jones is her last name. She plays for the Ice blue in the summer. She can do it all too. Great range, strong arm, very good bat.

Watch the girl from Ellet Crystal Harris. A converted catcher and a freshman. This time next year I believe she will be up there with the best of them. I have known this girl since she was in first grade and she is as tough as they come

Another girl just came to mind is Autum Grove from Central Catholic who plays for the Maddogs. When you talk about hitting the ball hard. WOW look out! Good range and quick release.

Rebecca Mines from Central Catholic is nails on defense. She did not get to play s.s. this year much due to the Grove girl but she has the best range I`ve seen and no fear of injury at all. Probably the only one I`ve seen that I can say that about. She plays for the Cobras summer team.
Have`nt seen Licause for a couple of years exceot for 1 game last winter and she is and will be a force for the next 3 years.

Okay, I'm going to bite. ;)

My shortstop is very good. Actually I have two very good shortstops. In no particular order-- The first one is Ashley Grayshaw. She has a cannon, hits for power, is a natural team leader and overall great athlete. She is an 8th grader at Richmond Heights. My 2nd shortstop is Carrie Moran. Great speed, strong arm and extremely quick bat. Both have great range and play the hole well. Carrie, a freshman, played Varsity for Lakewood High School. Both play for me in the summer for the 14u Breakers of Rocky River. This is their first year of travel ball and will most definitely do well.

Another good one is Kristin Bair. She plays SS for Louisville and plays for the 18U Maddogs in the summer.

Megan Simons pitches most of the time for Minerva and plays SS for the 18U Ohio Bandits in the summer. Great young lady and has a head for the game. She also can hit and put down the buts when needed. Team player!

Ummm....best shortstop,

I'd have to say Lauren Lynn (aka. RoadRunner/Pigtails). She is a sophmore at Sycamore (GMC) and plays for the 16U OFC Heat. An agressive player and great speed on the bases.

Sings like an angel too! LOL! Of course I am a little biased... ;)

Wolfpack 99

Thanks for the recognition of Jess. I would like to also nominate Britt Bartow, who also plays for the Ohio Bandits 18U. Britt has a big time arm that is very accurate and hits for average and power. Britt is someone who has gotten better each year and has yet to level out. It will be interesting to see Megan, Jess and Britt battle for playing time in the middle of the Bandits infield.
