Classes will be held on the following dates:
January 2, 9, 16, 23. Those dates are Fridays.
February 5, 12, 19, 26. Those dates are Thursdays.
All classes start at 7 p.m. at the Spano Dome, 2565 Pressler Rd. Akron.
Cost is $20 per two-hour session.
Classes are open to fastpitch softball players between the ages of 8 and 18. Students will be divided into age- and experience-appropriate groups.
Students will learn to throw harder and to get rid of the ball more quickly. They also will learn footwork, glove skills, bunt defense, pivots and other techniques that are essential for infielders. All students receive individual attention. Skills and speed are developed using drills that progress in difficulty through the eight weeks of classes.
Bob Hoiles has taught infield techniques for more than a decade. His former players and students now play for Ohio State, Kent State, University of Akron, Toledo, Oregon and other D1 schools. Former students have won an ASA USA national championship and played on teams with a dozen top-10 finishes at ASA USA and Premier nationals.
Experienced coaches and players will assist with instruction to ensure a low student-teacher ratio. Students are strongly advised to wear cleats and mouth guards or face masks.
