Boone falls to Washington team in Little League Softball World Series

In the first game of pool play in the Little League Softball World Series in Portland, Oregon, Daniel Boone was defeated 9-5 by Kirkland, Washington, on Wednesday night. Boone will play Layritz, Canada, at 1 p.m. Thursday. Boone fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning but battled back to tie the game with two runs in the bottom of the first and another in the second. Anna Richardson hit a two-run single and Kayleigh Quesinberry added an RBI hit. However, Washington took advantage of several defensive misplays by Boone and scored six times in the top of the third inning to pull away. In the fourth inning, Boone’s Kayleigh Musser drove in a run with a bases-loaded single to make it 9-4. Boone received a defensive gem from shortstop Josie Jenkins, who made a snow-cone catch of a line drive and stepped on second base for an inning-ending double play in the first inning.
