MLB! That would be interesting. Bet it's not to far off. If Bill Veeck was still alive he would probably be the first to hire one.

I'm a supporter of girls playing whatever sport they want and as long as they are able, then let them play.
I understand girls playing the sports that are for boys when a similar sport isn't offered for girls, but what if it was reversed?

1. Boys wanting to play volleyball? (on the girls team, since most HS's don't offer boys volleyball)
2. Boys wanting to play fastpitch softball? (since every year there is a girl wanting to play with the boys instead of the girls)

I'm sure there are other sports, but I think these two are enough of a topic!

Fact of life is boys are bigger, stronger and more athletic then girls so it would not be fair in reverse. So let the girls that can, play on the male teams but not in reverse and keeping girls from playing just because the boys can't would be childishness.

besides would you want to be the boy playing a girls sport in school, I would not, the teasing form the student body would be enough to keep most all the boys away from that crazy idea.

Just keep the Boys on the other side of the chain-link fence, There's aready enough problems without them in the dug-out.;&

That's all any Coach would need is a Boyfriend-Girlfriend combo on the same Team!

FASTPITCH! Anything else, And you're playing to SLOW!

I agree, but how does that affect Title IX? Do we now have several more sports available to girls than boys if we allow girl to play baseball, football, wrestling, while not allowing boys to play softball, volleyball and field hockey?

Now that's interesting. That could be argued but I guess it can be rebutted that if the boy's sports were available to girls, it would be the rare exception that could actually do it so it would not be an pausable alternative for most girls. Not enough to be made part of the equation.

Joe, looks like you are a night owl :D

I could be wrong but from what I have read I don't believe that Title IX is about the number of sports available. Instead I believe it is about the number of players participating. You have to have the same number of opportunities for girls to participate in sports as you do for boys. That is why football creates such a problem for schools. There are sometimes 75-100 (or more) boys in a high school football program and that just throws the numbers way off. You need 6-7 girls teams to equal the numbers of the football program.

Yes, the same number of opportunities. So if baseball, wrestling and football are available to girls, their opportunities increase in relation to the opportunities for boys if volleyball, softball and field hockey are not available to boys. I don't see how that would not be a Title IX violation.

As my Con Law professor used to say, query: If a court orders that baseball be available to girls, but the result is a violation of Title IX and a boy in the same school sues, what happens then? Ok, you can all enjoy law school, I've got softball work to do.

I really get tired of this. Let's just make all sports co-ed. May the best kids win a spot on the team. Think about the money the schools could save. They could knock down to one tennis team, one ****** team, one swim team, one basketball team, one diving team, one golf team, one water polo team, etc......now in order to do that we need to get rid of Title IX...
