CANCELLED: If you are a club team, Please call Tim Sheppherd at 513-236-4147. He has a thread started on here trying to find games for his club team.

Sorry folks, After looking at the rules this isn't a viable option, and wouldn't be able to keep the cost low.

Thanks

Re: Jr High Softball Friendlys

Not to be the wet blanket here, but there aren't "friendlies" in school ball. They are either "scrimmages" or "regular season" games. The rules for Jr. High ball are:

C. SPECIFIC REGULATIONS - Grades 7 & 8

1) Coaching and instruction may begin - February 25, 2013.

2) Date first game may be played - March 30, 2013.

3) Coaching and Season end - June 15, 2013.

4) Scrimmages permitted - A maximum of two scrimmages per year.

5) Regular season games permitted - Maximum 17 and one postseason tournament not to exceed four games.

6) Rules - National Federation Fast Pitch Softball.

7) Officials - OHSAA Class 1, 2 or 3 softball umpires required. Regardless of number, all must be Class 1, 2 or 3 umpires in training.

So, Jr. High teams (non-club) will only be able to play 2 scrimmages. They probably will have already played those before the regular season starts.

Re: Jr High Softball Friendlys

I appreciate the good info. What I was really tryin to accomplish was to set up a multi team situational practice. And I didn't know what else to call it. If this sounds unaccepatable in terms of oshaa maybe I will need to limit the teams to club teams only, or increase the cost to cover certified umpire fees so school teams will be able to participate. Any further insight is appreciated.

That's the bummer about school-sanctioned teams. School -sanctioned teams can participate but they would be limited to 2 games, if they havern't already used-up their scrimmage allotment.

The good news is that there are some Jr. High and Middle school teams that are considered clubs. They are not school-sanctioned. LU, just up the road from you is a club sport for Middle School Softball.

Scrimmages or friendlies don't count towards a sanction schools record anyway so call it what you will. Sanction teams are just limited in what they can do. Thats why if its me I go club and play and anyone I want. If anyone wants games we are willing to play on days in which we are not playing, give me a call were looking for a few more games.
