Two things:

1. Gawd!! Your posts are tough to read.
2. Good catch.....lol. That sentence is a bit questionable.

Yes Roto ist ok that you low balled the potential number of clients that could of been turned away by this thread. If 5-1 makes you feel better then 1/2 are potential clients then go for it. Its all about the kids.

Well actually the last time I looked at the poll it was about 5:1, and I really didn't find it necessary to keep looking at the poll for updates so I apologize for the misrepresentation.

That being said, 2.7:1 is even better so there you go, I wish your DD the best of luck and I really hope she makes some money doing this, it is a great idea and a wonderful offer for those who may need this service. I would hate to see a potential pitcher give it up due to a lack of someone to catch her.

I still don't understand the hostility of some of these responses though. This forum is an opinion forum, so when you post something......anything....... expect to hear others opinions on the topic. I don't see anything wrong with what Lou did, he offered his opinion and others feeling I guess like superheros decided they had to come to the rescue and defend the girl offering her catching services when there was no defending necessary. Musty if you are so upset that what Lou said may have driven potential clients from hiring this girl...maybe you should keep in mind that this is not the classified section of the newspaper.......this is not a marketing website it is a discussion forum.

I conduct pitching in my barn and I have seen parents catch pitchers...some are very good, some have gotten hurt and others are a sitting target. All of them are there for their daughters! However, I have seen pitchers throw a LOT better to "geared up" catchers receiving the ball without a bucket. A catcher from their ownTB or HS team is preferable, however, not everyone's schedules match up. I have a few barn catchers. Several are college players who are not catchers, but are very good athletes and encourage the pitcher and play D1 college ball. Pitchers LOVE throwing to them and parents pay the 10.00 an hour. I have a couple of gold level catchers also available. They get paid to catch and be available to the pitcher. It is an option in the barn and a good one. Not all parents catch their kids and some kids have long passed their parents. It is safer to spend the 10.00. Some travel with work. All of my barn catchers are working on their own, playing on their own teams and working on hitting and fielding. They don't have the schedule to "get a job" and most are being paid to play in college. 10.00 for an hour is perfectly reasonable to pay a teenage kid to give up an evening, travel to a pitching lesson, receive balls and throw approximately 200 pitches back from a crouched position....in particular if a parent or team catcher isn't available.

LOL. That's alright, you probably think OFC is Opinion Fastpitch Connection. It's actually OHIO as in Ohio Fastpitch Connection. The definition of forum isn't that it's an exclusive to expressing opinions. lol

While opinions are a part of a forum isn't doesn't mean it's cool to stick yours anywhere.

Yea people do post looking for opinions on subjects and we have no shortage of opinions. But it's also a bulletin board for posting tournament info, items for sale, teams needing players, players needing teams, fundraisers, services offered, etc. Lets say the Ohio Girls School for the Blind is hosting an NSA sanctioned tournament and they post the info on OFC. That's not the place to post your opinion of NSA. You can if you are a boob. But not cool. Say a 12 year old girl posts she looking for a team and you know her and think she's not very good. Not cool to post that opinion. Say the Catholic Charities of Ohio is hosting a silent auction to benefit orphaned children and they post it on OFC. Not the place to post your opinion of the Church and how they have harbored pedophiles. Say OFC is hosting a card game to raise money for kids who can't afford to play fastpitch. Not the place to post you think they shouldn't play fastpitch if they can't afford it. You can if you are a boob. Say a young lady wants to catch pitching lessons to earn a few dollars. Not the place to post your opinion that parents shouldn't pay her to do that and if they do not as much as the $10 hour she is asking. Not cool. Leave the girl alone.

Some people just don't get that. A lot of boobs in our society. Just like some people don't get that it's not cool for men to wear Crock's or bald guys to do come-over's, wearing a Bluetooth all the time, driving a PT Cruiser, socks with sandals, not using turn signals, occupy anything, pictures of yourself with your cellphone, etc.

And while I'm thinking about it why do dad's come to the games dressed like coaches? I swear any day they will be showing up with black out and spikes too. ha

So when you say: "maybe you should keep in mind that this is not the classified section of the newspaper.......this is not a marketing website it is a discussion forum." You are just flat out wrong. You don't get it. Haha. I understand though, some people only go out looking for that car wreck. You don't see most of OFC you just go looking for the car wreck of a thread so you can gawk. You may not even have a kid playing fastpitch. That's fine.

And nice job slamming someone for sticking up for a young girl. Really? Even if you didn't think it was necessary. Really? JMHO = Just My Honest Opinion
