Again, I want to emphasize, it was one person..... the rest of the organization was just fine. My experience with the head coach was very professional and class. Asking to check birth certificates in the manner that he did was appropriate and well done.
I also filled in to umpire an early game that this person was obviously the head coach for the older team. He was very loud in this game also. He also did not know his rules as there was a bunt from one of his players who ran in fair territory and the catcher had to lob it over her head to first base. I, as base ump called the girl safe because she beat the throw. The defensive coach protested and wanted an interference call to the home plate umpire. Home plate umpire conferred with me to clarify the proper rules on this play and the batter runner was then declared out for interference...(no, you do not have to nail the runner in the back to have an interference call).
The offensive coach (and yes, he was offensive in more than one way) argued that the call should have been immediate...(no, it does not have to be).
The worse thing about this coach was the way that he constantly berated his own players so everyone in the whole quad could hear. Point of emphasis, this was 10 and 12U.
