Coaches unnacceptable tournament behavior this weekend!

I would like to say that I saw a coach this weekend show such disrespect for a tournament that I could not believe it. If I was the tournament director I would do everything I could to get this coach and his team banned from every tournament I could. I would definately not allow them back to this tourney. When you sign to play in a tournament you should do so with the intentions of being in the tournament until it is done. Especially if your team that would have most likely won the 16U event. When you show up with no intentions of playing on Sunday that is ****. This team showed up this weekend using Saturday as a "warm up" for a future tournament they were playing out of state on Monday. When the coach was approached he had no care or concern. From my understanding he was actually very arrogant and disrepectful to the director himself because he was being asked about it. This not only disrespects the tournament but every team playing this weekend. Every parent on this team should be ashamed up themselves as well for going along with this coaches philosphy. It was a good thing that he was confronted before he was able to complete his two bracket play games or he would have most likely sent two teams into the losers bracket before he jumped ship.


Tom you did a nice job putting this tournament together. It's just as shame for all involved to be so disrespected. I'm pretty certain with the conversations I had yesterday that I'm not the only coach upset about this.

I forgot to add that he did complete one of his bracket play games. He was not allowed to compete in his second game. The team he beat in the first bracket play game was awarded the victory.

Well, since the TD for ASA 16u States was not named Tom, I think we can rule that tourney out as the source for this post.

I have always wondered why people are so spirited about postings like this and yet they don't post the name of the offender. If this in fact happened why be afraid to post the team. What they did is not acceptable unless the TD knew in advance what was happening - and if that was the case they are both at fault. When you post these offenders other TD's will have the info when they go to fill their events.

Mark, it is because the OFC admins try to walk the line between getting information out to the fastpitch community and still having civility and responsibility about what is said and who is identified. I think they do a great job in walking the line, but most of us err on the side of not naming names when the topic involves criticism on sensitive issues.

You are correct about walking that line. That's why I didn't name the team but it has been now...Trust me the TD had no idea about what they were going to do. It actually got "leaked" out by couple of the parents. I personally talked to the TD about this while the team was playing their first bracket game......I just hope someone remembers this in the future

A TD in Illinois had teams playing all day Friday so the tournament could end Sat. This was due to a few teams travelling to Colorado on Sunday.

Not every team in the touranment was aware this was going to happen.

Looks like the Louisville team should have headed to Chicago to play in their tournament, then everyone would be happy.
