College Playing Travel ??

A little help needed here.......
What is the ruling for the 2009 season on a College player who has completed her freshman year but is still 18U eligible?.
Can she or can she not play on a summer travel team ?? Does it have to be a Gold team ? Can she play in every tournament ?

Where is it officially ? Not just rumor or hear say.

ASA, USSSA, NSA ??

I have gotten different answers from different commissioners and directors within the last 2 days.:mad:

Rob--for USSSA, she can play 18A, 18B or 18 Major. Her status has nothing to do with the team classification. Prior to this year, if a player was a college player, she could only play 18 Major.

Can still play ASA 18U also, and NSA 18U "A". There are a few tournaments however that require the team not to play any college players - Compuware for one (unless they've changed in the last month or so).

I had a local ASA director tell me under no circumstances can she play 18U ASA unless she played gold, but had another tell me she could play any 18U ASA classification.

I just don't want to get to a tournament and have to sit her or forfeit or something. I want something in writing that I can keep with me at the tournaments.

Thanks Bob and Bear.

That TD must have special rules for his/her tournament, because there is no national ASA rule that precludes a college player from playing a regular 18U tournament.

I played 18U travel ball after my first year of college in ASA. Like Bear said, there are certain tournaments that won't allow it, but only a few.

HEY BEAR! Compuware IS allowing college players to play this year because it is and ASA National Qualifier. just so you know... it is the first year they are.

Are there any TD's on here holding tournaments this summer who will not allow a college player to play in your tournament ?

And if not allowing it, what rule are you citing ?

Just trying to get some answers.
