Hutch also was an assistant on the 1980 Indiana Hoosiers team that (as amazing as it seems in today's softball world!!!) finished second in the College World Series that year!!!! She was a go-getter then!! My sister enjoyed playing for her then. BTW, Iowa coach Gayle Blevins was the head coach of that Hoosiers team.
Hutch then went north and founded the UM program.
Also, simply possessing a gold medal doesn't make you a great coach. Brundage, however, has more than proven herself. The amazing part is, she was primarily a pitcher until she went to UCLA. She handles UM's pitchers and Ritter's meteoric rise is due in a large part to her work.
