Construction on Way to York from NEO

Just thought I would put and advisory out from some of my parents that headed out Monday night for a day in Hershey prior to going to York, PA on Wednesday. . .

There is construction on the PA Turnpike with heavy traffic. They were driving in the evening/night time and stated that during the AM hours the traffic could be heavier, especially within the construction zones. There drive time to Hershey from the greater Cleveland area was 6 hours with one 20 min. stop driving 75mph the majority of the time.

Not sure on the orange barrels, but aren't we going to play a game of hit the barrel and those with the most win. . . .

Anyway asked a parent how much the paid in tolls and she said it was at least $25, but doesn't remember exactly.

Out recent vacation trip that took us along the PA pike was pretty swift, but we were traveling in the early morning hours. I made it to Breezewood in just about 4 hours and it should be another 1.5 hours to York after that (at least it was in the heavy rain and darkness last year). As all us Northerners know orange barrels are like weeds in your yard during the season; leave on Friday and there isn't a weed in sight, come Sunday night the yard is full of them. LoL

Tolls is a different story: we got on the ohio pike at I-71 and paid $5.25 in ohio, another $3 to get from the PA border to just past Pitt, then another $13.50 to get to Breezewood. I want to think it is around $6 from Breezewood to I-83 by York, but I just cannot remember.

Someone keep us posted, we'll be making the drive next week for "A's" in York. GOOD LUCK to all the Ohio teams in York, Laplata, Sterling and tropical Dayton. Make some NOISE!!!

Just a thought on tolls and turnpike. If you can, take I-80 and you avoid tolls .It only adds a few miles.(4miles longer for me)

I was thinking about taking 80 most of the way as well. Anyone know what kind of drive that is taking 322 down and then 83?

Came out on Monday and ran into construction on 80 at mile marker 104 near Dubois. We experienced a 1/2 delay. It was bumper to bumper for a 8 mile stretch.

Mike1972 I think we are in the same hotel!!!!

Just arrived at the Holiday Inn accomodations are nice, newely renovated room.

Contract however says 7/28 - 7/31 and they had us in their registration not arriving until 7/29. Little opps on their part, but was fixed fast.

Traffic only was bad in the construction areas near Pittsburgh where it went down to 40 mph.
