Before you take all the glory in winning this tornament, lets tell the whole story, Starting with the two hour "rain" delay, blast was supposed to play at one but instead played at 3, which made for three back to back games, also blast being the first seed played the #3 seed while the waves who were #2 seed played #12 seed... then the championship game didnt start until 730 on a field with no lights... then the bottom of the 4th inning with the waves ahead the third base coach of the waves (who also just so happened to be the tornament director) told the umpire it was to dark and right then he called the game, when they clearly could have played at least one more inning(and i have photos that prove it) and did i mention that the waves also had the luxury of itting and watching a game for a hour and a half??? So before you bask in your win maybe the whole story should be put out there.... on a positive note the area in which this tornament was played was beautiful and i wouldnt have minded going back next year until i saw how things were done, its not fair to the girls who work thier butts off all day in the heat not to play a fair full championship game....and before you think im just mad because the blast lost think again, they came in second in a pa torney and were simply out played in the championship game, but that was a fair game...

1. Each team was seeded by Pool Waves were #1 seed in Pool #1. Blast was #1 seed in pool #3. Teams were not seeded 1 through 12 and the team the Waves played in the semifinals (Penfield Cobras)was certainly not 12th seed. Waves won that game 2-1. Only two teams were unbeaten in pool play Waves and Blast. As is typical in most tournaments the number 2 seed in a pool would not be in the same bracket as the number 1 seed in the pool. Blast played the number 2 seed in pool 1 in Semifinal. Waves played the number 3 seed in pool 1 which beat the number 1 seed in pool 2 in the quarterfinals. So the Blast were guarateed not to face a #1 seed from another pool till the finals. The above is the recommended on the ASA website for 12 team single elimation with three game guarantee and three pools.

2. Waves were also Scheduled to play earlier in the day 11:30 and had to also play back to back to back. Their first game also started at 3:00 PM. The delay was caused by an extra inning game on the field you played your semifinal on earlier in the day. Out of my control.

3. By the way of the four teams in the semifinals 3 of them were from pool #1. So which team actually had the toughest schedule.

4. I have no control over the weather and in the end although it took awhile to get everything up and running again after the rain Saturday night/ Sunday morning Every team was able to play every game. By the way we went through 2 skids of field dry preparing the fields for play Sunday.

5. At the beginning of the final game it was stated that at anytime the umpires (two Division 1 NCAA umpires) whom I had only met minutes before the game started, believe it was to dark to continue we would revert back to the last complete inning unless the home team was ahead.

6. In the FIFTH inning not the forth, when you made your THIRD pitching change of the inning I did approach the umpire and said I don't know if we have another inning left. The umpires were in charge of continuing or ending the game not me. Do you disagree that it was getting dark and we were not going to have enough light to finish? There would have had to be enough sunlight left for your team to score 4 or more runs then let us bat in the bottom of the sixth. The final was originally scheduled much earlier and darkness would not have been an issue.

7. Nothing was done unfair to the Blast, they are a very good team. On this particular night the Waves were better. Both teams played on the same field played the same amount of games and had to endure the inconvienince of being moved to another location. This was a fair game. It was fair when you were leading 2-1 after four innings but became unfair when we scored 5 runs in the fifth?

8. Basking in glory? I listed the winners of each age group gold and silver. Often teams that left early are curious about what team won the tournament etc. That is why I posted it.

ok first what exactly does a pitching change have to do with it getting dark??? that has nothing to do with the sun setting???? Second two skids of field dry??? i was there too and it didnt rain that hard... third you may not have known the umpires but for gods sake you were the director, neither i nor anyone else that i know who plays travel has ever seen a director caoching a team, actually we know coaches who have not coached because of that, fourth, so if they waves played at the same times blast did how is it that the whole team watched blasts second game? fifth, you didnt ask the ump you told him, everyone there heard it and yes i do disagree about it being too dark, i have pictures after the presentation of trophies that prove just that, your team has never scored 4 runs in a inning????? and as the director shouldnt you be prepared for everything, including playing a night championship game? my question to you is if the score would have still been 2-1 blast would it have still been to dark??? this i doubt.

1. making three pitching changes in one inning takes TIME in a game that had already started late. That was my point.

2. We used 1 1/2 skids of field dry by 8:00 AM Sunday morning. Were you at the fields at 5:45 AM like I was? NO. It rained very heavy at 10 PM Saturday night. It also rained early Sunday 2:00 AM. Vermilion did not get any rain just 10 miles away. This is typical when you are on the lake. We were able to get three fields going by 10 and four more by noon with the help of an additional skid of field dry.

3. At no time did I order the umpires to finish the game. I asked if they thought we had another inning of light left during your third pitching change. At the beginning of the game the umpires were told we would play until they (the umpires) deemed it to dark to safely continue.

4. Of course we have scored 4 runs in an inning as has your team, my point was with precious little sunlight left the time it would have taken to score four runs or more then let the home team complete an at bat would have left it far to dark to play safely. Lets say you did score 5 runs and it got very dark during our at bat with a one run lead it would have reverted back to the fifth. You still would have lost.

5. Waves and Blast were scheduled to play at the same times 3:00 4:30 6:30. The field the Blast was on had a extra inning game on it. I was in Huron working on fields. I didn't know that field was behind till way after I scheduled games on it.

6. I did not coach my team in the first two games of single elimination since I was in Huron. When I went to Vermilion I watched the last part of your game no one from my team was there, they were over at the field we were going to play on.

7. If I was in control of the umpire, why was I not able to get them to penalize your pitcher for throwing warmups when she came back in the game the second time in the inning? Those should have been ruled balls.

8. There are very few lighted softball fields in this area and had they been usable I would have used them. One has not been played on in 5 years and the other would have required an additional 25 mile drive if I could have even gotten permission to use it. I was able to get Vermilion to let us use two additional fields playable by 9:45 AM Sunday. In spite of the rain we played every game every final was played to completion except 16U which went 5 innings.

9. Yes I coach a team that I am also the director for, however the tournament director duties come first as you saw on Sunday. I don't know how many other people do the same. I know Todd Harbaugh does in the Parma Wildcats Shoot out and I believe Ralph Miller may also for the Heartbreakers. But that was not an issue anyhow. My position did not help my kids score any runs nor stop your kids from scoring.

10. If the score had been 2-1 it would not have been to dark thats true because when a team scores five runs and the other team changes pitchers several times it take up much more time than a one, two, three inning.

11. Lets face it. You are just a chronic complainer. You complained when I sent you to Vermilion to play. You were up at the table complaining about everything. You complained about the coin toss. You complained when I called you and you didn't answer, so I sent another team ahead of you. You said I didn't call you until I showed you my cell phone to show my calls to you. Not my fault your provider didn't work in Huron very well. Nothing was going to make you happy Sunday. NEWSFLASH: weather effects softball games.

12. That picture proves nothing. Lighting was diminished. Umpires called it not me.

13. As I said before you have a good team on that night they were outscored that simple. You were not cheated.

How many of you coaches have been to tournaments that rained caused games to be shortened or canceled? As I said before every game got played. One game was shortened by two innings out of over 100 games played. All in all not to bad for the situation I faced Sunday 6 AM only four out of twelve fields playable.

i think its really funny how you just assume i am the blast coach... i am not i have nothing to do with the coaching at all i am just a parent and i call it as i see it, annd i will say that our coach is not a "cronic complainer" as you say if anything he takes way to much...so in order to get him to complain there must have been a good reason... this is the first time in 4 years of travel ball i have ever publicly complained about a tornament, as for the diminshing light in the pic that was taken a half an hour after you told the ump to call the game, and as much as you want to deny it , thats what happenend we as parents heard you clear across the field... you can try to blame a pitching change(that was only switching out two girls), you can try to defend yourself all you want photos dont lie....

Impossible for you to have heard something that never happened. At no time did I ever tell the umpire to call the game. I simply said I don't know if we have another inning of sunlight left. After I said that to him we finished the inning. When the third out was made the umpire approached me and asked me the score. He then called the game due to darkness.

as for the picture. look at this picture on the Ohio Blast website Follow this link: http://www.leaguelineup.com/miscinfo.asp?menuid=37&cmenuid=37&url=ohio_blast&sid=572916411

LOL....you're a fool. When the game was called because of lack of daylight the street lights on Sailorway Dr were on as well as the security lights on the side of the school. So you can post that your picture was taken half hour after the game was called because of darkness all you want and I will agree with you. I saw a group of you taking pictures around the pitching circle about a half hour after the game and I couldn't tell what you were doing until someone's flash went off. That's how dark it was. As for the picture you posted the glow on the left side of the girls faces was from the security lights on the school.

you are never going to admit that you told the ump to call the game...why would you??? We all know what we heard, and as for the pic on the blast web site the picture taken on the mound was at least another 10-15 min after the first pic was taken...it was the last photo taken.. but thats niether here nor there im done arguing with you about darkness, my whole point is that it wasnt a fair championship game, and once again im also not saying that we would have won, the waves were a very good team, im saying that because of how this tornament was run the blast never had a chance....

Wait a minute read your own post you said the group pictures were taken first which is it your story changes?

Here try something new the TRUTH.

It was to dark to play another inning.

On that day the Waves were better.

I never told the umpire to stop the game.

You are one of those parents who dd has never lost, it was someone elses fault. If she didn't start it was cause the coach didn't like her. If she didn't get a hit it was cause of the umpire. If she didn't get an A is was because of the teacher. I'm sure your dd is perfect anything that went wrong there was someone else to blame.

Wah wah the tournament director didn't like the Blast so he fixed it so you couldn't win its not your fault.

Let me get your latest story (lie) straight. The above picture was taken after the group pictures. (your words) Then 10-15 minutes later the team posed again for the picture that is posted on the Blast website. Is that how it worked?

wow so we have resorted to name calling, that just goes to show your caracter, glad you know me to say im a liar.... theres some maturity going on there, we had to wait for our group pics until you decided you were done...not real sure how my daughter got drug into this, once again that shows your caracter...as far as im concerned this conversation is over, im a grownup and do not play the name calling game that is for the kids.... if you would want to replay the game fairly you can call our complaining coach he will be more than happy to play you again, unless of course im lying about that.... as a final note you have a talented group of girls and i wish them all the best....

You have attacked me and accused me of cheating, lying, manipulating the results of the tournament, etc. When I point out your untruths then I am a person of bad character.

Read the statement it wasn't about your daughter it was about you. There is always a reason someone elses fault for failure.

You lost a game to a team that was better than you on that night. Its that simple. No one cheated. One team of girls playing fair scored more times than another team of girls also playing fair. An umpire called the game.

well i guess the truth hurts.... i never said you cheated...i simply said it was unfair.. and you couldnt be further from the truth about me, i am my daughters biggest critic..what ever she does is her responsibllity or fault not everyone elses...and yes name calling in in bad character...and no there were no untruths(nice way of saying lies) i post what i observed and if it makes you feel better about that night then go right ahead and name call...makes no difference to me.....

I wish your team the best of luck. They are obviously very talented or they would not have been in the finals

I just will not agree with you that you or your team was ever treated unfairly. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.
