Dawg Daze Tournament

I have seen it all now!!!! When you've played in a championship game and you're waiting for the trophy ceremony, the umpires are gone (who were blind and lazy to make the correct calls), no tournament director in site (he was probably 4-wheeling somewhere else), a parent finally goes looking for someone and when he returns he informs us that we must pack up two teams, 25+ parents with kids, all the stuff they brought to the field with them (coolers, chairs, etc.) and trek to the concession stand where the trophies are in boxes! Now how hard would it have been for him, ONE PERSON, to pick up the box and carry it to the field???

psychomom - you are being kind in your description of the officiating at this tournament. The one ump we couldn't seem to get away from this weekend was chatting with my dad between games. He told my dad that he had a brain tumor & was under a doctor's order to not be out in the sun! It really explained A LOT.

I will say that the tournament director made sure we got all our pool games in on Saturday considering the rain that came through there on Friday night. They could have just cancelled the Saturday, but he found dry fields for us to play on.

call Brian at Huron Parks and Recreation, 419-433-5000. Been hosed a few times, I keep coming back, This will be number 8. I keep hoping they get it right. I got hurt once up there, Took a overthrow to middle of back when I had my head turned. { never trust 1st baseman again} They went above the call of duty to make sure the girls ,their parents and my family were taken care of. I will always remember that. Now the umpires do have problems up there. Must be the water!!

I have always played 18/U up there. There is some very good teams that go there. You will get all you want. I have watched some of the lower age groups and there are no easy wins to be had at Huron.

I guess that's why some coaches have to have trick plays up their sleeves, huh?

Fields are only 15 minutes from our house. If any local team are entered we might swing on by to catch some action.

Side note...........................

There in the middle of Huron there is a little ice cream joint called the 'Pied Piper'. Excellent food and ice cream there. Good stop between games!

You just never know when a floppy fish will turn up. Keeps those other coaches guessing all game. Will he or won't he.
