Diamonds & Dreams Academy offering Defensive Classes

Chris Miner will be conducting a 6 week infielder defensive skills clinic for serious players wanting to improve their defensive skills. Classes will be taught using a combination of Kobata and Old School techniques and drills.

There will be a series of classes offered which include the 6 week basic skills course, a 3 week course on "baserunning", and "individual position" techniques and a 3 week "advanced" course combining the first two courses on a full infield. The "basics" class is a prerequisite to the "baserunning" class and the prerequiste for the "advanced" class is the two previous classes.

Enrollment will be limited to 6 students for the "basics" and "baserunning" classes and will be held at the Diamonds & Dreams Academy.

Age groups: 10-12 13-14.

Lesson dates: Thrusdays 6-8pm projected start date Feb. 24-March 31st. There must be 4-6 students enrolled to begin the courses.

Saturdays 11am - 1pm. Projected start date is Feb. 26 - April 2.

Full payment must be made on the first session. No refunds, no individual make-ups.

Chris Miner is a National A.S.A. Hall-of-Famer, a 5X A.S.A. All-American, 15 year collegiate coach, Erv Lind Top Defensive winner at a Women's National Tournament, and the owner of the Diamonds & Dreams fastpitch Academy.

My daughter has been thru this twice now and it has help make her a top defender.

These are must have fundamentals to have if you plan to play at the next level.

Chris does a great job with the girls . My team just finished a 6 week class and it will deffinately help us out this summer.

My DD went to Chris' 'pilot' classes for this format last year and it made a HUGE difference in her game. Chris has a unique way of getting the most out of the girls. I currently have 2 players doing this clinic with Chris, including my DD. Chris puts a real emphasis on the defensive part of the game and breaks each drill down as to why they are doing them and into game situations so they understand it. My DD is learning alot from the classes and I have picked up on some new drills and techniques to share with the team. I highly recommend this clinic when she offers it again. I know she had talked about doing another one coming up in a couple of weeks and we look forward to it.

I agree with Gopher, this is a must attend. Plus in my dd's case it is good to have some of the older girls with them (dd is 10), to learn from.

This has been an excellent clinic with small groups and lots of personal attention. Each session is a review from previous week and then building on that skill set. Chris explains how each drill is important to the sequence each play. We are looking forward to the next sessions to enhance the first one. She has had 2 sessions, one on Thursday and another on Saturday and is looking to add this as a permanent class to her academy. Again, it is well worth the time invested and is also reasonably priced.

I've had several people asking when I would be holding another defensive class so I decided I would start another one as soon as I get enough participants. It will be held on Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm. The class will run for 6 weeks, however, I am making a change to the format a little, I will be teaching base running techniques, position skills, and sliding and diving skills on the 6th session of the series.
