Here's an article from the Boston Globe from 4/17. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/04...ples-taken-chelsea-show-exposure-coronavirus/
Researchers found that 32% of people in Chelsea, MA had already had the virus, EXCLUDING individuals who had previously tested positive for it (so actually higher than 32% total).
from the same article!!!!

"Just because you have the antibodies doesn’t mean you’ve cleared the virus,” said Dr. Vivek Naranbhai, a clinical fellow in hematology and oncology.

So like I said, are we going to cancel everything forever because of the "unknown"... I've read a lot of experts don't believe a vaccine is the golden ticket out of this like everyone thinks. What happens when another strand pops up? Then we start all over again? This is a never ending cycle if we keep this up. I work with cancer patients everyday, and one thing it has taught me is to live your life when you can because you never know if you will have tomorrow. I don't want to hide from this virus, I don't want the kids to miss out on things they can never get back because who knows if we will even be here tomorrow?

Are you suggesting we just go back to life normal as before all this crap happened? How do you think it would effect our community?

Do you think maybe this virus is kinda like a population control kinda thing? Weed out the old.

Could this be the new norm that we have to deal with?

A lot of uncertainty and a lot of frustration.

I never claimed that it was a fact.. experts believe that antibodies would indicate immunity.

I think we should definitely be taking extra precautions. I think the high risk group should be extra careful. Remember the stay at home orders were in place to prevent hospital overflow, now it has turned into everyone ordered to stay home because they are afraid of becoming infected. I'm also saying that everyone wants to put their lives on hold until this is totally gone and I just don't agree with that. Who's to say it will ever end?

Personally me and my family we are not afraid. Bible says don’t live your life in fear. Cautious yes. We live in caution. I kicked and screamed when they shutdown my office and made us work from home. Especially when they leave my warehouse workers out there and my warehouse portion is still open. They forced us to work from home! Why???!! Idk. Now once the world decides to get back to normal they will play hell getting me back in the office everyday. Especially when the daycares open back up!

We had a video conference call as a team yesterday after DeWines announcement and our Athletes want to get together as a group and practice. They offered to wear face mask and stay 6’ or more apart. Then I had to explain we all touch the ball and then they offered to wear rubber gloves. Lol.

This Quarantine has to end soon. Only so much training you can do on ur own.

I noticed some Directors sent out schedules already for Early/Mid June tournaments. Is this so they can pull more money for their cancelation? Do they really believe we are gonna be out there playing? A lot of unknowns. Mind blowing that we are seeing something like this in our lifetime. Never would of imagined.

I mean that scares me that this is what things are coming to... Are kids never going to be allowed to play ball again because they all touch the same ball?

Kids are going to turn into bigger, lazier couch potatoes than ever.. Then we will have a bunch of unhealthy obese kids with diabetes and heart disease.

I am to the point where I believe we are ALL gonna need to get this virus for it to go away. Less than .05% death rate if I’m not mistaking? So we all may have to take it on the chin and get sick. China is back up and running like normal. For the most part anyway.

hate to admit it... but i do business in China (shhh) dont hate me - i also have a small construction company in the USA so dont hold it against me! lol)
i have a person that has worked for me for the last 15+ years in Yongkang China. His brother in law was in Wuhan had covid was in the hospital... is healthy now (we think). I get a lot of info from him and we talk daily.. morning and night. dont be foolish....... China is not back to normal. if you think wearing masks everywhere you go, and they are still keeping social distancing... and they had 11 new cases yesterday atleast from what they reported (not in wuhan) but... believe me... it is far from normal. the factories i do business with are not fully operating... they are doing work but not fully operational yet.... it is a slow process. We need a vaccine or therapeutics that will help keep the virus in some type of control.

I think that is a good point about practice. My point of view is that you should pretty easily be able to practice and still maintain the current social distancing guidelines. Yes the kids will be using the same ball and standing on the same field. If this is where we are being driven to is fear to be in the same space or wait until this VIRUS has disappeared or a vaccine has been made it will be a long, sad road. Has social distancing and stay at home worked for Ohio compared to other states yes, however, mark my words Nationally once everything is lifted we will see a spike because everyone will be out and no one has built up any immunity, if this applies here, to the virus. By no means am I saying softball is more important or we should put anyone's children at risk, but this will have to end at some point.

One tournament that has already sent out a schedule has a ridiculous refund policy. It is held at a facility that has all turf fields, so I think many people figured as long as it isn't storming, the event would happen and most were willing to take that chance.
If we are not allowed to play by the time this event is to take place and they keep that same refund due to the first Pandemic in all of our lifetimes - Then teams def need to remember that and make sure no one gives this event money ever again! That will be totally crazy! And while I am hoping we are playing, if not I sure hope this event and leaders Do The Right Thing!!!

if a tournament director would actually do that it would be like committing Tournament director suicide.

I'm sure he's talking about Lasers. Entry fee $695. Entry form says refunds only for not being selected, and partial refunds for rainouts, ranging from $35 to $245 refunds if 0 games are played. The form says in bold there will be no other refunds. Teams are no doubt scared they will apply this literally and refund $0 if the park is closed.

Problem is we ALL know what we signed up for when we entered these tournaments. Personally I have accepted it if a TD keeps some of our entry fee. It just shows me their moral compass and the type of person they are. That Green Stuff (Money) can be evil sometimes. When you get a few hundred teams at $600+ per team that’s a lot of coin if something gets cancelled. We shall see how all this plays out. My hopes and prayers We all get to be on the field with our Athletes come June.

I would be ok playing high competition Round Robins. 3-4 really good teams, no concession just play some ball.

These poor softball girls can't catch a break. I just read that NEXT spring the 17 year Cicada is due to hit the Tri-state area with billions of them swarming the area from May-June. I don't know about your kid, but my daughter would rather risk the chance of getting Coronavirus than to play in the middle of all those things. She HATES bugs! LMAO

I mean couldn't fate have at least dealt them a little better hand by having those things come out THIS spring??
