The hitting school has grown substantially since its conception six years ago. The most recent increase is due to our current instructor, Stefanie Volpe, who was a two-time All American at UM. She will be working at Michigan?s summer camp in June.

Exclusive College Pitching Camp Scheduled for July
On July 20th & 21st an exclusive college camp, pitchers only, will be available. The students of the camp must be part of a college program or be an incoming freshman who has been recruited by a college program. This will be more advanced and focus on pitch development and the higher aspects of the mental game. The camp will be a concentrated 6 hour camp: two hours on Friday night 6:00 pm ? 8:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am ? 11:00 am, and a final session from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Pitchers are responsible for bringing their own catchers to the camp. For attendees that are traveling from out of state, the nearest hotel is the Baymont Inn and Suites in Wixom. The phone number is 248-735-2781.

Training Class on Pitching for Coaches Conducted by Doug Gills
On August 24th & 25th Doug will conduct a pitching training class for high school, college and travel team coaches. The clinic will be eight hours long and include all aspects of pitching: mechanics, drills and gadgets, pitch development, strength training, and the mental aspect of the game. The clinic will be conducted on Friday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. It will resume Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm with a break for lunch and then the second session of the day will go from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. There will be a social hour for coaches Friday night after class.

Three Ohio Pitching Camps Coming This Summer
Two 3-day pitching camps are scheduled in Toledo and a 2-day camp is scheduled in the Cincinnati/Dayton area. The Toledo camp will be held at a Base Sports facility that is our normal lesson site in Holland, OH. The Cincinnati/Dayton area clinic will be held in the brand new Athletes in Action Sports Complex in Xenia, OH. Cassie Resser will provide the instruction in Toledo and Doug Gillis will be instructing at the Xenia, OH clinic. Students of all levels will be welcome because the camps will be lesson oriented and individual evaluations will be made.

Just got back from the Xenia camp with Doug Gillis; he really knows his stuff. Doug has a quick eye, meaning that he can quickly identify the problem areas and he has a bag full of drills to isolate the mechanics that you need work on.

I'd highly recommend Doug to anyone.
