Eligibility - AUG tournaments?

Does anyone know of an OHSAA rule stating that girls playing organized softball in August will be ineligible for the school team the following year? ie, my daughter plays a tournament the first weekend in August and becomes ineligible for the 2009 high school team. I can't find this rule in the OHSAA 'rule book'.

I would think that if this was true, there would be no tournaments during the month of August. I do not know of the rule though.

There is a "dead time" established by OHSAA rules or regs, with an exception for completion of any national tournaments. I'll track it down and post it today or tomorrow.

If I am not mistaken, this rule only applies to teams with more than 4 rostered players from the same school. I will post the section shortly....

IN ADDITION TO THE FOUR PLAYER RULE, there is a no-contact period in which the young lady cannot be coached by her school coaches if the program she has participated in is sanctioned by OHSSA. Runs from 8/4 through 9/1 this year (the dates vary according to years because the no-contact period is defined as the period ending on Labor Day and beginning four weeks prior to Labor Day). This is set forth in the softball general regulations as well as the general sports regulations (Section 7).

So unless there are more than 4 school girls on your DD's team or that team is coached by a coach at an OHSSA sanctioned school, your DD should not be at risk in playing an August tournament
