Even this site is a disappointment. Let me add my thoughts

Tallmadge Force Gold brought up a great point in another thread in the forum. It’s basically related to his disappointment in this site. And I’m 100% agree with him but I’m not disappointed it the site as you will see in my reply.

Even this site is a disappointment. I would love to come to this site and read about the results of games, tournaments, and players that are doing well. Instead, it is mostly about facilitating these player/team movements.

I would never say this site itself is a disappointment. This site received millions of visitors a year. This site brings like minded people together but unfortunately most of these people are Lazy.

This site has created opportunities for everyone for over 24 years.

Tournament directors are lazy, yes I said it.
When was the last time you seen any tournament director do anything more then post their tournaments?

Tournament directors are lazy, when was the last time you seen a TD post results on the forum?

Tournament directors are Lazy, when the last time you seen a picture of the champs posted on the forum by a TD?

Nope that just plan laziness on any TD that can’t post at least the winner and runner-ups .

I’m not even sure why we have a tournament section. Wouldn’t it be better to just have a tournament list instead?

Coaches are Lazy. Since 2019 TheSoftballZone has been pushing a player, team of the week program with a yearly Player and Team of the year. These players and teams had a chance to receive a one year sponsorship for $1,000.00. What happen to the program Rick had to discontinue it due to lack of support from the Coaches.

Yes Coaches are Lazy, what coach wouldn’t want to highlight his or her players if given a chance? Not many it seems.

I totally agree on all counts with the TD's. They get free advertising without having to return anything.

Organizations Leader are Lazy, over the year I’ve watch organizations Leader build great programs using the forum as their only tool. We’re are they now? O crap that brings up the whole being loyal topic again. So I asked you where is the loyalty now?

That right they’re busy preaching that to their players.

unfortunately the only press that gets action it seems like in this society is dirty laundry. so the more crap people can talk about / eachother, other teams, other orgs, daddy ballers, quitters, team jumpers etc.... that's what usually gets the attention.

I agree, but does it have to be that way? No it’s doesn’t but that would take working together to make it better.

no it doesnt have to be that way rerun -- i always say to my wife- why watch the news? its all negative sad mean nasty..... where is the HAPPY NEWS DAY CHANNELS? there is none... nobody wants to hear how happy you are. they want to see destruction and death and mean and nasty... thats what sells!

I think with Twitter, Facebook, IG and all the other social media outlets its tough to ask these TDs, coaches, & Org. Leaders to post pictures and whatnot on a forum instead of their website or one of their social media outlets. I know we reach WAY more of an audience when we post on twitter than we reach if I was to post something on the forum. Not being a prick about it just speaking the truth. We see daily who comes on and who is active on this forum. Am I wrong to say its about the same 14-18 people?? Nope. There's also a lot of Bot accounts and fake accounts. Same person with Multiple accounts. That makes NO sense to me at all.

Right now a lot of 12u and 10u action because the Popularity Polls, Sorry I mean "Coaches Polls". I try to stay in those threads and keep the conversations going and stir up some excitement. Then we will have tryout season then the forum will be quiet again. Personally This site is my only source of social media.

I agree with you on this. Last Fall, we had a tournament cancel on us so we threw a tournament together in a couple of weeks. This is my last post from that thread:

Thanks to everyone that came out to our tournament this past weekend. Alot of great softball on display. Coaches were great about rolling with the adjustments due to the morning showers on Sunday. Thanks to our field crew for getting the fields ready and letting us finish before dark.

Our Champions:
14U: JABC Riot 14U over Devils Fastpitch 06
12U: Ohio Outlaws '09 (Trbovich) over Ohio Emeralds 08 (Sirohman)
10U: Tallmadge Force Gray (Ickes) over Stark County Terriers

It is very tough to find information of various tournaments. Some scores you can find on gamechanger, tourneymachine, hosts website, Twitter, or the sanctioning body's website. Worse, some scores you can't find anywhere. I wish that this website was used as a dumping ground for every score from every tournament. I'm not crazy enough to believe it will happen but there could be a push to get TDs to post them on here.

I would also like to see coaches post their scores/schedules on here...even if they didn't win a game. I enjoy the 12U and 10U coaches polls because coaches do post their past results.

It gets trickier with talking about players, especially at the younger ages but it would be nice to see coaches talking about an opponent that did really well against them. Even promoting one of their own players that had an unusually good week. They don't even have to name the player, just say pitcher from ABC and catcher from XYZ...

On the USSSA website - you can follow every event going on as they happen every weekend! Because of this, I have not felt the need to post here.
I always post pictures on our Tri-State USSSA FaceBook page for each division every weekend! I will begin to share those on The Softball Zone FaceBook page from now on....
I am not smart enough to know how to post pictures on here....

In another month this site will get packed for about 2 months of people looking for Teams and Tryouts!
I still do not understand why all those posts are not shown under NEW POSTS since last looked????
You have a certain percentage of those on here, not interested in that, but it is what is bringing the majority of the traffic during that time.
Would be nice to have it show under NEW POSTS & have a way for those not wanting to see it, to be able to block IMO...

This has been a great and valuable tool for Ohio Softball!!! Hats off to Ricky for providing this awesome site!

I don't post my team score because honestly, I haven't had a team worth talking about since my 18U showcase team 6 years ago. DD's last year of eligibility she just subbed for teams like the Outlaws, Blast, a couple of teams from PA. etc. Then she went off to play college ball and I dropped back to take a 12U team. 4 different teams in 4 years, all mostly rec players. Now I finally have a 14U team worth talking about.

As for the coaches polls, I've always felt they were self-serving bragging/popularity polls so I never bothered with them. JMHO

It's great that you post those. The problem is that there is not one single location for a softball community. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Softballzone, and all the others make it alot of work to find the information. The best part of Softballzone is that it is freely available to everyone. You don't need to signup. Anyone with a computer or phone can easily find the info. Social media puts in way too many obstacles with Facebook being the worst.

Lastly, I don't know who runs this site but I'm betting they are from Ohio. It makes me feel good to read this site and click on some ads knowing it will be going into the pocket(s) of another Ohioan. Zuckerberg and Dorsey have already made enough money off of everyone else's hardwork. By using this site, you are supporting a local business...
