Faith-based Fastpitch

Does anyone know of any faith-based fastpitch organizations? We played a team this fall that asked our team to join them in prayer at the conclusion of our game. It left a great impression on my daughter and I. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The only faith-based org I have ever seen was Rock Solid and I believe they were out of Tennessee.

I recall being at a tournament with an organization called "ROC Elite" (I think that's what it was). When I asked what "ROC" stood for one of the parents told me "Rely on Christ". Very nice kids and parents. I think we were in Youngstown at the time, so perhaps they are from NE Ohio/Western PA.

Reign is another organization we played in the past that I believe was faith-based.

To confirm an above post, ROC Elite is a "faith-based fastpitch organization." They are out of the Hermitage, PA area.

Sports Reach is a multi-sport ministering organization started in Campbellsville, KY that has branched out to different states.....there is a Sports Reach 18U fastpitch team out of Louisville, KY....Kevin Johnson is the founder/coach....they try to combine community outreach and mission trips with their out of town tournaments when possible....team's pretty good too.

There are several teams within the Mason Thunder organization that pray before each game and we always welcome others to join. We have had a couple times where umpires joined us. I feel prayer before the game helps keep things in prospective and we should always be grateful for the gifts and talents we have been given . Our words and actions should always be to glorify our LORD, but since we are human, we're prone to error so that reminder can sometimes keep things from getting out of hand in trying situations. So if you play a Mason Thunder team always know your welcome to join us in prayer before our after the game.

It would be great just to find a coach with a strong faith.

UB ... you can be sure there a lot of coaches with strong faiths out there, but you may not always be able to see it. In these days of political correctness and discrimination lawsuits, it can be pretty risky for a coach to stick their neck out ... they may have a strong personal faith, but have to be conscious not to try to "impose" it on others. When I coached at a Catholic school, we said a prayer after every game, and a few times over the years I have led a travel team prayer when someone on the team was dealing with a death or serious illness in their family, but unfortunately would never be comfortable to do more than that. I do think you can learn a lot by watching coaches in action ... how do they treat their players, players' parents, opponents, and umpires ...

Totally agree Coach. It is just so hard when you pay the kind of money you do to invest in your child's life. By the time you realize what kind of coaching you are dealing with, sometimes it is too late. Don't get me wrong, we are all sinful by nature, and I know that. Just seems like people of faith have things a little more in perspective at the end of the day. (or tournament) lol. Not concerned about the public pronouncement of a person's faith, just the evidence of their walk. It should be evident in one's demeanor and the way they handle themselves.

Not to open a giant can of worms on this one, but be careful not to mistake faith for religion. The two are often worlds apart.

Ubcuts -- I'm a proud Christian and Coach The Cincy Doom 02 . We have a roster spot open for a 02 DOB kid and would consider the right 01 DOB player as well. We practice not terribly far from you in Portsmouth Oh . OFC used to have a very active section of users that gathered under the section " OFCer's for Christ" I made many a friend there that I never met in person and a couple of them still ask about my family .

Scooter, you're right. I know lots of religious people. That's why I use the term faith or faithful. Lots of people kmow how to be religious, a smaller number are faithful followers. And ManitouDan, appreciate it greatly. If only I had a daughter that age. I have a 97 catcher and an 04 that wants to play, but we're holding off a bit with her.

I am very much a part of our Lord! That is one reason I am a part of this wonderful sport! I want to make a difference in our youth's lives! I want to serve our Lord by using my knowledge in this area. My goal is to make someone above smile and to make our young ladies do the same.

Unfortunately, with the Supreme Court discussing allowing prayer at public meetings - It is getting to the point where one family has a different belief & someone is sued for offering up a prayer......All the things that have gone down hill in this great nation........

Coached for over 30 years, have always opened with prayer prior to competition. We serve a mighty God who desires us to profess our faith and serve others, being politically correct is the least of my worries. I am proud to serve others and want to teach my players the same!

I have always told my kids how important faith in Christ is, having said that I never left my kids to be lead by a coach in teaching or being a role model for something this important. Foundation is set at home and softball is played on the field and coach is just that...if he or she happens to be person of faith I would applaud that but this was never a #1 or infact 2 or 3 in determining who DD's played for. Knowledge in softball with great practice drills w/o being an A$$ was #1 in the beginning.
