No helmets, no facemasks, no Gatorade, no hovering parents, no trophies if you lose, no bows, no make-up, no nothing but softball and competing to be the best and expecting NOTHING in return!! wow, just wow

Very cool! We need to make sure though that the pitcher, Kathy, isn't Harry's daughter since he said she threw 90 MPH!!

* Lol ... sorry Bradwire ... didn't see your post before mine!

I was wondering if anyone would catch that 90mph statement.....:lmao:

Probably the old equivalent to 90 mph given the pitching distance ... which, since they were throwing at 40' then, would only be 60 ... slower than most 10-U's today! ;)

My wife, myself, and my 13 year old just watched it. The Brakettes, what a horrible name. My DD said not a lot has changed gamewise. I laughed when she yelled at the screen, "43 feet!" Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for posting this. I agree with Northmont's DD. Not a lot has changed. I'd like to know what the swingweights on those first metal bats were, though. Pretty cool.

All coaches are always eyeballing the techniques used by other players. It's a habit we will probably never break.
To see these pitching & hitting styles we think, "Wow, those girls could really hit or pitch better if they- - - -". However, we should remember that this was probably considered to be the most effective techniques back then.
Step & turn pitching style. But...they were certainly effective at the time.
Very neat to see this. Thanks for posting.

Someone should get in touch with 60 Minutes and try to get them to do Fastpitch Softball 33 years later
