Fastpitch Softball batting gloves, do the girls use them?

I understand why the girls on your softball teams used them when bases running.

But when batting are they really needed?

How does wearing batters gloves help?

My kid doesn't use them. She has some and when she works blisters on to her hands she wears them until they are healed, that's it though.

Yes, they need them to guard against blisters. They also help with grip especially on hot days. I always wore gloves, leather gloves, to bale hay and straw. Nobody ever asked me why tho.

Ditto When my oldest still played she never wore them.

Why ? Her reply " Dad there gross sweaty and smelly". Can't say I could argue almost right there with there cleats

The cleats in the bag are WAY worse than the batting gloves.

To help defend against the smell, my dd keeps a freezer bag with a couple dryer sheets in it to store her batting gloves. You could also put a dryer sheet in each glove and use the Velcro to strap them on the outside of your bag.

My kid uses them because she gets sores on her palms under her index fingers.

Baking soda helps with the smell too. I put some in their shoes and batting gloves after a weekend of abuse.

It hitting practices with hundreds of swings in a short amount of time she will get blisters if she doesn't wear them, and it games she wears them because she is used to wearing them in practice.
