For all the high school coaches

The DDs and parents have already been addressed so this ones for the coaches. . .

May you be blessed with skin thick enough to block the parental barbs and batterings, hearts kind enough to manage the many fragile feminine egos handled daily, and enough game knowledge to lead successful programs this spring. Mostly, may you be blessed with enough humor to laugh off the stresses that working with girls can bring.

I am just hoping the new coach at our HS lasts. This is the 3rd in 5 years and 4th in 7 years.

My daughter is in 7th and there are 7 girls in her class that play high level travel. So we are really hoping things get ironed out by the time our DDs get up there. We liked the last 2 but it seems the school/girls/parents not so much????...........but then again we like tough direct coaches. And I think there are more politics up in the HS building than we are know abpout or care about.

The crazy thing is that the teams are pretty good every year. The last coach quit because she had bleeding ulcers from the stress. I am a bit worried on how things will go. Fingers are crossed that the new coach will get the program ironed out and handle the stress.

Few parents realize what it takes to be a high school softball coach, and that doesn't even count the game knowledge requirement. Most would be eaten alive before the first season was through!

How about the Serenity Prayer? I prefer this version:

God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things which should be changed,
and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.

And may you not cave in to the pressure of parents who come whining about whatever.

Our varsity coach added into the parent/player contract that aside from the 24 hour grace period before confronting an issue,"parents/players may not approach coach by phone, person or email. They need to schedule a metting with A.D.,varsity coach and your D.D.'s coach in A.D.'s office".Hoping those disgruntled may just drop it,we'll see!
