Game Day USA Tournaments...rip off

I just wanted to inform you of a tournament ripoff regarding GameDay USA tournaments.
They post their tournaments on this site and we sent in the money to go to The Wisconsin Dells Season Finale in late July. Last month, I called to see how many teams they had in the tournament and we were told there were only 3 teams signed up. The lady I spoke with, Susan Foster, told me we could drop out and there would be no penalty and we would get a full refund.

We rescheduled another tournament in Alpena Michigan and were the last team to get in.

I called a couple weeks ago to GameDay USA and they said they never got news of us wanting to drop out, and that they would have to get back to us. They called again last week and said they needed to look farther into the matter.

Rich Janor, the big name associated with GameDay USA just called and said we would not give a refund because the tournament has not been canceled. I asked him at what point do we have to wait and see when a tournament is canceled before we can drop out?

I told him our situation about only playing in June and July and he said it is not their policy and that Susan Foster did not have the authority to make that decision. He said he needed to see what she said in writing. I told him it was her word on the phone and that he needed to check with her. I hope she is an honest person.

What a rip off.

Game Day USA event are rip-offs. Last year we went to Gatlinburg to play and there were only 3 16U teams involved. To have a tourney they added the 2 18U teams that had registered for a total of 5. One of the teams was from our area.

The problem comes from the fact that 18U teams were "A" division and we were told until the week of the tournament that there were plenty of teams.

It's interesting, one tournament wouldn't let us when they only had 3 teams...total waste of time. Another tournament the Fostoria Glass festival and specifically Gabe let us out when his tourney only had 3 10u's. I won't forget either tournament. I will play in any tournament Gabe Seirra runs knowing if there aren't enough teams he will be a stand up guy.

I would do the same for the tournament in Findlay this past weekend. They had trouble getting teams, I asked them about it and they returned our money. That is how you treat people. GameDay USA are a bunch of crooks.

Same thing for us this year in Gatlinburg. Called down there only 3 teams in it. Same with one of our 14's also.

We were scheduled to play in Gatlinburg the weekend of June 10th and they canceled it a couple weeks prior due to a lack of teams. They sent an email asking were we would like our refund sent to and that it would be sent out in the next 10 days. I immediately responded and they acknowledged my email. At this point I have not seen my refund and I get NO response to my emails.

Last year I was scheduled to play in Beaver Creek (TD: Terry Folino) early in the season and it got rained out (canceled). Within three days I had my refund, this is how a respectful and classy tournament is run.

I believe there was an old thread about avoiding GameDay Tournies. I know we got the short end of the stick a couple years ago in P-Forge. Got there and there were only 2 12u teams so they made a 10u play with us. Oh yeah, they forgot to inform the 10u that everyone else had dropped out and they were the ONLY 10u team.

Yea they let the 10u team drive down from the Dayton area to find out they were the only 10u team in the tourney. They not only made them play with us and a 12u team from Atlanta but also with a local 14u team they picked up from another tourney in the area. The 10u team had to borrow a ball from us and work with their pitchers on the larger ball and farther mounds. That poor 10u team had to play 2 12u's and a 14u. If I see a Game Day USA tourney advertised on OFC I will post a warning so they don't pick up any more smucks.

I just called again, and they hung up on me. I heard a person in the background say to "Get off the phone with him" when I gave them my number for them to call me back. RIP OFF ARTISTS!

Can their tournament listings be banned from the OFC site so no one else gets caught up in their scams?

Where are they advertising their event on the OFC? I have never seen it.

But, I hear they got such a great fancy website.

Vacation spot tournaments ... just cracks me up.

I guess Hammer they had to move their tournament to the Wisconsin Dells to get away from everyone who knew them in Tennessee !!!!!

P.T. Barnum quote comes to mind ;&

It is under the "tournament listings" on the OFC main page. I looked all over the Great Lakes region to find a tournament in an area none of us had ever been.
I know, it sounds hokey, but we all travel together and play one a year in a location that is new to us. Two years ago, Niagra Falls at the West Seneca Magic tourney, and that was a good tournament and cool location seeing the falls
Last year was in Watertown NY and that tournament had the Nightmare from upper NY and they were a real good team and it was an OK tournament. The area up there was beautiful. Sacket's Harbor NY was where we stayed and it was one of the coolest little towns I have ever seen. Everyone loved it.

This year, now the GAmeDay USA has boned us, we are going to Alpena Michigan on Lake Huron and playing in their tournament up there. It is a 7 hour drive, but it is supposed to be a pretty neat place to visit also.

Most of our families usually drive on for a few days and have a vacation out of our trips, so that is why we chose this area.

Back to GameDay USA bashing......the a holes!

I guess we can let Ricky and Bear May know when it pops up next year and they can take it off so you guys don't get that or happen to another team.
You know you can always go to www.eteamz.com and start a thread in the discussion page about them.

The only way we play in a tournament in Pegion Forge is if it is an ISA santioned event. I heard nothing but bad news on the Game Day Tournament.

Joe Caldwell is the TD for the ISA Tourneys and he usually does a great job with his tournaments. Good number of competitive teams.
