Wvanalmsick, my comment was in response to your post of which I quoted.
Not on the purpose of travel ball.
I believe these discussions on a tournament are valuable in a number of ways. If someone is is complimenting a TD and their staff for a well run event it can give others ideas on how to improve their own tourney. If it isn't quite so flattering then that TD and others may to try to avoid doing whatever the issue was and thus improve their event. In that instance, everyone wins.
Here is my original post:
Does it
really matter who won the 18U/16U division? The primary purpose was to get the girls some college coach exposure.
If you are worried about crowning a champion, then you are missing the boat.
Your post:
Forget GAPPS, rain, TD bashing. You missed the boat when you chose to write off the leaving it all on the field mentality in favor of trying to squash a constitutional right to freedom of speech.
My original response dealt about the purpose of 16U/18U Showcase----to get the girls exposure to college coaches, get these girls some money for college, and the need not to have a declared winner. It had nothing at all to do with squashing someone's freedom of speech. Anybody who has been around softball long enough knows and understands that.
Of course, a lot of the younger age group parents who have not had a DD progress through 16U/18U do not understand that for 99% of the girls that play college softball, there is no softball after college. So it isn't about winning, it is about getting a degree so that they can apply it in creating a career after college.
Your response, which says that I abandoned the "Leave it on the field" mentality, gave me the impression that you didn't understand the purpose of a 16U/18U Showcase.
Where in my post did I "squash" someone's rights???
