GAPSS, aka Great American Premier Softball Showcase held in Delaware County, Ohio, (Olentangy High Schools) ?has announced their tournament dates for 2008.

10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U DIVISONS
88 TEAMS ?

4 GG (2 POOL, 2 DE)
$450 ENTRANCE FEE
TEAMS THAT PLAYED IN OUR TOURNEY IN 2007 WILL BE INVITED VIA EMAIL-WITHIN NEXT 2 WEEKS.
THESE TEAMS WILL HAVE UNTIL NOVEMBER 1, 2007 TO ACCEPT. ?FULL PAYMENT ($450) MUST BE IN OUR PO BOX BY NOVEMBER 1, 2007.
REMAINING TEAMS WILL BE ON FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.

I understand the possibility of conflicting tournaments on same weekend. We have lost teams in the past to other qualifiers. Our hands are tied when we can hold the tourney in the Olentangy area. We are confident we will still have many quality teams who want to participate, from past teams to teams that have inquiried (close to 50 teams have inquiried that have not played in our tourney before) about the 2008 event.

I thought NSA States would be held June 27 - 29th? Have the dates & locations been announced?

Good question fastpitch. That is the exact problem we face. Some of these qualifiers announce so late, and we have to make a decision based on reserving fields. Very tough spot to be in.

Per an email from one of the NSA Directors:

'The State will be July 4th - 6th.'

So if I'm reading all these posts correctly .. ASA States, NSA States & GAPSS will most likely all be July 4 - 6 .. not to mention the National Holiday! (I would insert a photo of Uncle Sam if I had the time). Does anyone have a private jet? LOL ..

The registration form for the 2008 tournament can now be downloaded at www.gapss.org. Teams who played in the 2007 tournament will be given selection preference for the 2008 tournament as long as their registrations and payments ($450) are
received by November 1. After November 1, teams will be accepted on a first come first serve basis based on the order in which registrations and payments are received.

Because age groups fill up quickly, registrations and payments should be sent ASAP. Once an age group is full, a waiting list will be created in the event teams drop out. Teams on the waiting list will not have their checks cashed until they are confirmed to be entered into the tournament.

Notification of registration status will occur within 2-3 weeks of receipt of registration (after November 1) and will occur via email and
the tournament website.

It is really to bad that this tournament and NSA states are the same weekend, both places run great events. Question to coaches, where will you play, GAPSS or States???????

Oh I don't think you will have any problems Shane, your team will fit right in,both class acts!

My guess .. those who want to go to NSA Nationals .. HAVE to go to States. If you choose ASA or PONY Nationals or will skip NSA Nationals for another reason .. then GAPSS is the better choice.

According to NSA you must attend NSA states to go the NSA World Series(some of which are in Columbus next summer).
