The TD is also running the Nike Faster to First HS tourney this week in Huntington Beach. The first games were supposed to be played today and were canceled because the city closed the fields. He posted this earlier today on that tournament's website:

WE RECEIVED A LITTLE OVER A HALF INCH OF RAIN IN A THREE HOUR TIME FRAME LAST NIGHT. THE FIELDS WERE JUST GETTING READY TO BE PLAYED ON FROM THE INCH AND A HALF OF RAIN WE RECEIVED THIS PAST SUNDAY/MONDAY. THE WEATHERMAN IS CALLING FOR MORE RAIN THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING. THE HB SPORTS COMPLEX IS VERY QUESTIONABLE FOR THIS WEEKEND.

He obviously doesn't think they'll be able to use the HB fields tomorrow or Saturday because he has changed the format of that tournament and moved the games to 6 HS fields.

If it rains, I'd probably head up to Islands for a Kiluea burger, onion rings, and some Stone IPA on tap. Good stuff.

@Dan:

Used to be that California was safer than Florida for weather. Now I'm thinking that Arizona would be the safest place in terms of spring weather. In Tucson it rains something like 10 days out of the year.

It will indeed be a shame if the ball gets canceled this weekend.

Islands is very good with the caveat that the menu is kind of limited to burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads and soft tacos.

Oggi's is a great place to go with a bigger menu, numerous HD flat screens, "8 Oggi?s Brews craft beer and another 8 Seasonal Beers from around the world." http://huntingtonbeach.oggis.com/

Tucson actually has a higher average annual rainfall than Huntington Beach - 12.5" vs 11.3".
- Tucson is better Nov thru Apr - 4.4" vs 10.1".
- HB is better May thru Oct - 1.2" vs 8.1".

We have wet years and dry years. We've had 19" of rain since July and normal is 13", so this is a wet one.

I feel bad for the laser kids, yes they will get to play some games but thats a lot of jack to get to Socal to play some friendlies instead of a tourney.
