Magic-Day is a good team I would agree, heck they beat a very good ?Heat team.

However until they start playing a tough schedule and stop playing USSSA they will never know there true ability.

There is no comparrision between the Toledo tournaments and the tough ASA and NSA National Qualifiers.

To me they are a good to great USSSA team.

Go to ASA states and have to play top team after top team.

It is all realitive to your competition.

To me they are a good USSSA team and a paper tiger when it comes to getting any state recongnition.

Go to ASA states and have to play top team after top team. Not the Wizards 10th 16U team along with the a load of average teams.

Until the Toledo team realize that Toledo tournaments are not tough they will continue to get no respect.
WOW What did the 10th Wizard team and average teams do to you >:( >:( :p
BTW there are only 7 ..16u Wizards teams.(I just looked it up ) ;)

I may have missed something but as I look back on previous threads, I dont see where any representatives from our organization or our team are lobbying for any level of recognition or respect as you claim we are. ?As a matter of fact, I would challenge you find any postings at all about our team. ?I know some organizations, teams, coaches or parents find the necessity to lobby for some level of recognition of their team but we dont. ?My girls and their parents are happy with our schedule and we are happy with the competition that we play. ?We all just enjoy working to get better and we feel that our schedule is helping us do that. ?In our view we could care less where others are playing or what level of competition they are playing against. ?Unlike others, we have no desire to be ranked with or against other teams. ?We are having fun and getting better - and that is our sole mission.

Going back to the level of competiotion that we play though - you may want to take a look at the list of 58 teams that were in our division at the GLI (I believe 2 of those Ohio teams just returned from pretty good showings at Compuware last week) or at the 160 teams that are playing in our division at the Sparkler. ?I think there are some fairly decent teams in the field there as well. ?We may not play in all of the premier events but I believe to say that we play no competition is a great disservice to some outstanding teams from the midwest and in the case of the Sparkler - some of the best teams in the entire country.

And finally, the Heat - Toledo team that you mentioned must be slumming at the end of July ?;) because they will be at another one of those weak Toledo events that we are in when we return from playing those slouches in Colorado. ?Unlike you, I am not going to guarantee a win if we should happen to meet there but I am certain that my girls will appreciate the challenge of playing some real competition for a change (compared to the also-rans that you believe we have seen so far).

For all of the well wishers, we do appreciate it! :)

Sincerely,
Dave Day

Dave,
?I apoligize for even commenting on the game.Maybe all this wouldnt have started.I wish the call would have went the other way but that is taking nothing away from your team. You have a very solid team. You dont have to explain yourself to anybody. Good luck the rest of the way.

I should have known better than to put anything on here.

Absolutely no apology necessary. Your issue was with the umpiring and as I mentioned to you at the game, we had the exact same call against us at the Spano Dome while playing another Ice team this winter and my response was pretty much identical to yours.

Unfortunately, some how your point about one call in a game against us fueled some individual's need to criticize my team, our schedule and through inference basically everyone that we have played so far this year.

It is amazing to me but as I stated in my first post (reluctance due to a potential firestorm) it seems as though any mention of my team invokes a need for some people to sling mud.

Again, I appreciate the apology but it is not necesssary. We enjoyed playing your team. It was a great accomplishment for us to just be competative with you guys let alone to sneak out with a win.

Best of luck to you the rest of the season as well!

That is all Icantcatchacold does is badmouth. A week before Springfield went on their state run he bashed their head coach. He seems very bitter about something.

You are right! One thing about Icantcatchacold is that he doesn't seem to be prejudice against anyone person or team. He is unbiased in his criticism of just about everyone.

I just wanted to make clear that icantcatchacold isn't affiliated with the Heat-Toledo team. I sense that some people might think that it is a Heat parent that made that post.

Keep us out of this. Magic- Day is a good team and we would relish a rematch. However that will not happen.

The so called slummin tournament we are playing in is the Fastpitch Classic 18U. Many teams use this as a tune up before they head to their respective National tournaments. So we are hoping that we are able to play some very tough 18U teams to get us ready. We are using this to hopefully tune us up for the "Big Dance" (ASA 16U Nationals "The True Nationals") Where there are 350 college coaches in attendence.(a lot like the Colorado tournament)

Just to confirm ICantcatchcold is not a Heat parent.

Good luck on you trip out west.

I have no issues with you or any other person associated with the Heat - Toledo team. ?My statement was in response to Catchacold's. ?She is the one that brought your team into this. ?As far as the "slummin" comment goes - that was obviously tongue-and-cheek; again, in response to Catchacold's statement about how weak Toledo tournaments are. ?It was not intended to be derogatory toward your team.

I have the utmost respect for the Heat team; as I do for all of the other teams in Northwest Ohio and surrounding areas. ?That is precisely why I took offense to the remarks from Catchacold.

It is obvious that the remarks made by Catchacold struck a nerve with more than just me. ?I am not sure if she realized how insensitive her remarks were to not only the young ladies that play on my team but also to all of the other young ladies that play for other local organizations. ?Playing for the Magic, the Wizards, the Irish or any other organizations in Toledo does not imply that anyone is lacking skills, ability or desire to become a better ballplayer and it definitely does not mean that they are trying to avoid playing against good competition. ?Each player and their family makes a decision to play on a team that fits their needs, their goals and in some cases their financial situation (among numerous other factors). ?As I stated earlier, our mission is to have fun and to get better. ?I am assuming that all teams and organizations have their own goals or visions of what they want to accomplish as well. ?But, just because those goals may not be in alignment with those of Catchacold it does not mean those teams should be respected any less.

Again, I have no issues with the Heat or any other team. ?I wish the Heat well as you prepare for your run to the ASA Nationals.
