I think they are completely erroneous lol. I know that my nieces stats are way off. Heck, one girl on her team had 3 RBIs in a game against Lebanon and they have her down as 1 RBI for the season.

Stats are great for underclassman to help guage where they stand. It means alot to a young player to see that she is contributing to her team. It gives her confidence and enforces a sense of purpose. By the time they have been in HS ball for a few years, everyone knows everyone and altough I wont say they arnt as important, the kids seem to follow them less and less. For the older girls it should be a lesson learned that there is always someone looking to take your spot. Although It dosent always work out that way. Just a thought, I know most people dont consider stats a reliable source. But if used in the right way I think they help a player get better at her game. We all need at one time or another some way to guage our abilities.

Unfortunately, the same person doesn't keep the book for every game of every team so comparing team to team for the most part is meaningless, except for that one stat you can't pad, wins & losses. BD is right, it is a great tool for the girls coming up to see where they are compared to the other players on her team and for keeping school team records. But with all the games we are getting in this week, guess they don't matter!! :lmao:

Yes, I think most coaches try to get the stats right, but when you have 2 or 3 people with their hands in the book, it is kind of tough.
