What age group are we talking about? It is never acceptable, but the conversation only goes so far when the player is at the 10u-14u age level. The parents need to understand the consequences when they get their child to practice/games late. My daughter was always a fanatic about making sure she was on time, but not all parents see the value of the lesson.

Hard to do but the answer is strict but fair. This is tournament ball the best players will play unless it breaks team continuity. If the girls are upset that Sally skips practice and comes late to the games then starts at 1st base every game there's a problem. That is when you need to have talk with Sally and her parents with your asst. coach present. And let them know that this is not tolerated and it is not fair to us as coaches and the rest of the team that can get there on time.
