Wow!!!!!
What a great week-end. I don't know where to start but to say Thank you to the Ohio Danger for a great week-end of softball. I don't know how many coaches mentioned how great it would be to play the teams that were here this week-end everyweek. Congrats to Matt and the Clasics Tournament Champions (watch out Ohio the Clasics are for real) Matt you are doing it the right way and we can't wait to play you guys again. Doug like you mentioned on a previous thread we love playing you guys and I know we will hook up many more times this season, I knew when we found out we were playing the Hawks in our first pool game of the summer season it would be special and I don't think we let anybody down what a way to start the year off. Dink and the Nitro what a great group of coaches and players we had so much fun playing you guys (I am now up 2 on you for getting girls thrown out wow what an arm I did not learn my lesson on the first one). Chris and Stingrays great talking to you wish we could have hooked up. (too many teams not enough time) Last but not least Thanks Tabi (Clasics) for lending your to bat to LG for the weekend. What a week-end lots of great softball but more important lots of 12 year old girls and fourty year old parents and coches having alot of fun

Absolutly! Our game was a battle, first game of the year... great stuff. I don't know how many people watched that game but I had folks all day coming up to me telling me it was like two prize fighters slugging it out.. it was exhausting!

Matt has a great team, hoped to play them .. very impressed. Loved watching Patina and the Heat get better every game. Static game was sweet, lost 1-0 but can't complain when it is a clean hard fought game. Stingrays - great fun, great game as have our last couple been...

Thanks Paul - well done!

Lastly, I wanted to say something about the Valley Storm team. They are not quite at the level of the other teams that were there (and this is coming from their coach and parents) but I was so impressed with them, their coaches and parents. They played solid fundimental ball, represented themselves very well and with time and hard work they will be a team we look forward to seeing in our bracket! Coach Scott has done a great job - just to tell everyone how they are doing it right, after our game this morning with them, instead of packing up and leaving- the entire team and parents set up down in LF and watched our game with the Static .. one of my parents overheard coach tell the girls that they are going to need to practice more than once a week to get to the next level and the girls answered they are ready... THAT is SO COOL! I am excited for them .. they are on the right track.

If any of these 12u's want in the Dayton Metro - please contact me ASAP. Thanks again to all.

Solid weekend of ball. Wish we could have hooked up with Grey instead of Matt's Classics so often ;&

I'm just glad we didn't pick an injury.

I also want to thank Tadd with Lasers Purple for bring his wonderful DD out to help us. Such a wonderful family. Got to hand with Tadd's DW as well. Had a great time all in all. Going to be a great summer for many teams at this event!

Doug, I watched that Hawks-Gray pool game on Saturday morning while our team was warming up for their first game, and it was an exciting way to start the day. Great game between two high quality teams. The 12U field was a meat grinder.

All I can say is that this would not have happened without you guys, THANK YOU!!! The 12u field is outstanding this year and you guys are going to be some worn out dogs come sunday evening. From what I seen playing there was at least 6 teams that are so close it is scary, better bring your A game, that is for sure. I must agree with Doug also, Valleystorm is on the right track and to get better you must play better opponents and they jumped right in there, nice job Scott and girls. Way to hang tough and keep your heads held high. The 14u was about the same. There were about 5 or 6 teams that were pretty even and a wrong bounce either way could have made a difference. Hats off to Ohio Ice as they can absolutely knock the snot out of the ball. Once again, Thank you all for coming to the Danger Zone tourney, without you coaches and studdettes this would not have been possible. Wish everyone goodluck this year and hopefully this tourney got you tuned up for the season. Great job all!!!

Thank You,
Paul Moore

The quote of the weekend was from Matt. "We gave up 1 run in 13 innings and didn't win a game." That was Saturday during pool play. That line right there shows how tight most games were. Was a meat grinder of a tournment but me personally would rather play teams like that than just collect trophies.

Thanks for inviting us Les. Enjoyed getting to know the great players and families of the Cincy Static. You will definitely have a great season on and off the field. And DD liked the cool Static uniform...I'm sure that'll cost me next season. Great to participate in a meat grinder of a tourney. Look forward to seeing and hopefully playing you next weekend in Beavercreek.

Thank you to all for the positive comments. I will pass on everything said to our ladies.

We knew coming in that we were gonna have it tough and that we are not in the same class as the teams in the Danger Zone. Honestly, our goal for the weekend was to be competitive. For us, it wasn't about wins or losses. It was about doing things right and walking away proud of our accomplishments. Did we make mistakes? Yes, but we learned from them.

Our next tournament is the Mad River Classic. We will be a better team that weekend because of Nitro, Danger, Heat, and the Hawks. Thanks again for the great games and lessons coaches.

Good luck to all!

Scott

You hit it on the head Scott, it is not about wins and losses, it is about being competitive with these types of teams. If you are being competitive, the girls are learning and then when it all comes together the wins come. Nice job this weekend and Goodluck to you and your team the rest of the year. You are on the right path. You might want to show these posts to your parents as well. The girls want to work and love it but the parents sometimes don't have the patience to stick it out and then we all know what happens from there.

That 12u division had the feel of ASA States. As a coach and observer I just have to say the teams participating this weekend really put on a show! All of these organizations should be very proud of their players and coaches. It was great to watch fierce battles between teams and the players, coaches, and parents act with total class win or lose. hats off to all of you for setting such a great example!

Hey, if you find any stilts at the field, there's quite of few of us coaches that shared them :)

Nah we are keeping them for our Outfielders to be able to reach the shots over the fence easier....LOL

In the game I was watching , the RF for Inferno 14u didn't need stilts to snag one from over the fence. Not sure who they were playing, but probably the best play I saw all weekend. And I think bases were loaded at the time, not sure.

Yeah, that absolutely was a great catch. I was sitting out beyond left center, and if she hadn't caught it, it would have cleared the fence by about a foot and a half. It was against Static, and the bases were loaded.
