This is slightly off topic, but a few comments in a couple posts here are bothering me, and I need to get it off my chest ...

So lots of times coaches yell at players when things get sloppy on the field. Sometimes it's the player(s) who actually messed up, sometimes it's just whoever is closest to them or who made the last mistake in a series of mistakes, and sometimes it's the best player on the team who should have known better. That doesn't mean they are blaming everything on that particular player. It's a normal reaction ... not always the best response but it happens. But here's a difference between coaching boys and girls ... girls (and their parents) take it personally and boys (and their parents) don't ... yeah it's a generalization/stereotype (and yeah it's the same parents!) but after coaching well over 50 teams of boys and 50 teams of girls, I will debate this with anyone.

I disagree about the college scorekeeping ... while there are some less experienced people doing it sometimes, my experience on what I've seen is that it's pretty accurate, and that coaches have an interest in ensuring that. I would be interested in hearing what/where your experience is, Natural.

Infield pop ups dropped, but ruled a hit. I saw an outfielder have a flyball hit them in the thigh, and a hit was awarded. I have watched over 100 games college the last two years, and nothing surprises me anymore.

Like I said league games are the worst since postseason awards are based on league stats typically.

Is it as bad as HS, no however it should be better at the D1 level.

I would have to say scoring in my Daughters league has seemed to be pretty consistent and well scored. The league has its own page containing stats reported. Not really much I would question in the games I have witnessed. Stats that a lot of coaches have trouble with are the doubles or triples awarded after a throw. I have seen a number of doubles and triples awarded after a throw going to another base allowing the hitter to advance.

Flygirls ... yeah those are missed a fair amount probably ... sometimes there is some judgment involved as to whether the batter would have made it anyhow, but I know a lot of scorekeepers don't get that one ...

I wouldnt argue this with you coachjwb because I completely agree. I could see the difference when my DD got yelled at when she was 12-13.....My son is now 13, loves football.... when the coach yells he actually responds positively to it. My DD on the other hand just got piss** off hated her coach for the remainder of that practice or game. Now she understands but back in the day she wasnt always so open minded!
