Well the summer season is almost over and that means the girls will be back in school. With this being said, who are the teams to beat in the upcoming 2007/2008 school year? Remember this is just your opinion. :)

Uber, I can't wait. I talked to a neighbor last night (Fellow ND supporter) he said you daughter played really well in the scrimmage last night. It was a great opportunity to showcase her talent. I believe that I will be seeing you at the NLL/City league challenge this coming year.

Speaking of ND do they have enough talent returning to make a run in the CL? And what about the other teams, Who do they have coming back?

Watch out for Lebanon again. Even after losing ace pitcher Dana Bohrs to Graduation. Junior Faith Tessmer (MV Express) is going to be just as good. She throws a 64 mph fastball, excellent change, a rise ball that is very hard to pick up, a very good curve, a drop ball, and the best screw ball that I have ever seen. If she throws a ball its because she wants to. Sophmore pitcher Bethany Campbell (Cincy Storm) is also going to be very tough. She is just a little slower than Faith, and has all the same pitches. Her rise ball is awesome, and she's not afraid to throw it when she's behind in the count which isn't often. Catcher Amanda Fredricks also graduated, but I think I have seen Junior Alex Matchen mentioned here as one of the best catchers in Ohio. Add good hitting and decent fielding to that battery and you have a lot of wins.

643dp, ND had a very talented freshman class. They should be tough in a couple of years. They will be better than last year. Clay will be good again. They lost Molly Berry, but filling her shoes will be Toni Hernandez. Toni is a fantastic outfielder. SUA will return Schultz as their top pitcher and they should be right at the top of the CL. I don't think Start or Whitmer will make a run this year, but you know the old saying: "On any given day."

Northern Ohio League will be Bellevue again with a much improved Fostoria narrowing the gap.

I know Fostoria will be adding a player that will greatly help that team in A. Hall

643dp, I am not sure about the pitching. I know one of the girls that pitched and she did a great job. She has a great deal of junk, but I don't know if that will be enough. She is a very good player.

Definitely a rebuilding year for Start---they lost an almost entirely senior lineup :'(

But---they should be bringing up some talented jv players (saw them in action over the summer rec season and they looked promising when they were firing on all 8 cylinders ) ?

Wish us luck ?;)

I thought Start's JV team was pretty decent last year, and their Freshman team was solid too. I don't think they are going to fall off of the Map. Their recent SR. Class was very good and few of them will be hard to replace.

Hudson, and Canton Hoover, will be the teams to beat in the summit, and Stark county area's, but watch out for Cuyahoga Falls, they return the entire team except for their shortstop. They could suprise alot of people this year.

I know the first word of this website is Ohio, but a team from the state up North is Temperance Bedford. Only lost 2 seniors and have a outstanding core of position players returning. Just like any other school, depends on the pitching and have 3 girls coming back with varsity experience.

HILLSDALE returns almost the entire team. I believe they only lost their 2nd baseman (Galligher) and starting pitcher(Chuck). They have Erin Ebert returning which I believe is a(Jr. ???) & new H.S. rookie (freshman) pitcher (Galligher) that should keep them atop the league and make ANOTHER run for a state championship.

They have many other quality players returning too. Hannah Faulk and Tawyna (sp??) (Garver) should have a HUGE year and lead the team with their bats. If I recall 3rd base and 2-3 outfielders were ALL freshmen, maybe 1 sophomore? They are young with alot of experienced players.

Good Luck Falcons in 2008!

Speaking of the NLL---dd played with several of the Maumee girls this summer. ?I believe they may surprize a few folks this next spring (strong players with a couple big bats).

Looking forward to the UJ Points poll.

katjoebenmom... ?The thing that Maumee lacks is pitching. ?They may be able to score runs, but can they shut anyone down. ?They seemed to give up a bunch of runs last year. ? Yes. ?Where is the UJ points system. ? :-? ?Does he think he can take the fall off? ? ;D ;D

Maumee is yet to prove that they can hit top pitching. They do have a very motivated coach that does have that program point in the right direction.
