Hillsdale College will hold two camps, one on Thursday, Aug. 15 and one on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Both camps are the same, just on different days. We held one August camp last year and it filled up quickly and we turned about 30 girls away. Hillsdale is an NCAA Division II school in the GLIAC (Ohio and Michigan schools) and is about an hour west (and slightly north) of Toledo, about 15 minutes into Michigan.
The camp is for girls who will be in grades 9-12 in the fall (we will take good travel-ball level 8th graders) and is mainly for two purposes. One, so we can get an up-close look at potential prospects. And two, as a fundraiser for our program. Our coaching staff doesn't pocket any of the profit (we are permitted to do so, but we pour it all into the program). The camp is run by our coaching staff and players and each camper receives personal treatment. Rather than try to overhaul a girl's swing or pitching mechanics in one short day, we target one or two things for improvement in each area. We also will teach the campers at least one and often several things they haven't seen or heard before.
