Hillsdale College will host a Prospect Camp on Saturday, Sept. 27. It is limited to 25 players so that our staff can get a great look at each girl and so that each can receive maximum personal attention. The camp is for grades 9-12 or advanced 8th graders. The camp will not include pitching. Here is the link for registration...
Hillsdale Softball Camps
Hillsdale College is in Michigan and is 3 hours from Cleveland, 3 1/2 from downtown Columbus, 4 from Cincy and an hour from Toledo. Hillsdale is NCAA Div. II and in the GLIAC, which is composed of seven Ohio schools and seven Michigan schools in softball.
Camp Schedule .....
9:15 a.m.-10:15 a.m. - Optional - Tour of campus with selected members of Hillsdale Softball team.
10:30 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. - Registration at Softball Field.
11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. - This portion of the camp will allow the players to showcase their offensive and defensive skills. The defensive part will include catching, but not pitching.
1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. - Lunch break (lunch not provided, but there are several restaurants with five minutes)
2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. - This portion will be run like a Hillsdale College Softball practice. It will include many drills and detailed instruction on several aspects of the game, including baserunning, defensive positioning, advanced game strategy, mental training and more. This will not be the typical "here is how you round a base" type of instruction; it will be more advanced instruction that our coaching staff believes many players do not receive until they reach college.
6:00-7:15 - Optional - Players may have an individual discussion for up to five minutes with Hillsdale coaching staff about their skills and about the potential of being a Hillsdale Softball recruit.
Camp Directors
Head Coach Joe Abraham and Assistant Coach Erin Porter
Instructors
Hillsdale College Coaching Staff and Players
Equipment
Catchers must bring own gear. All players should bring a batting helmet and bat if they have one. Bring tennis shoes for batting cage use or in case we need to use the turf on our football field.
For questions, contact Coach Abraham at jabraham@hillsdale.edu or 517-607-3191 (office) or 614-271-4070 (cell).
