Andrea Costa at Champions Baseball Academy in the Sharonville/ Blue Ash area is very good. Phone number 513-247-9511. She is a former All American and a former college coach. She has done a great job helping my daughter. I have a hard time saying enough good things about her.

Andrea C at Champions. Great demeanor with the younger girls but drives all students hard to do their best.

rae21 - A question you should answer for yourself is "What am I looking for in a hitting coach?" Sit down and make a list of the things that are important to YOU. Ask questions!! Don't just take anyone's word as gospel, because everyone has different goals and expectations. Just because someone is (or was) a college coach, player, etc. doesn't automatically qualify them as a great teacher. They might be, but that's a very subjective issue.

You MUST define your expectations. A few years ago I quit taking my DD to a certain pitching coach, NOT because he wasn't a "nice" guy (he was, and still is), but my DD WAS NOT advancing her skills at a rate that met our expectations. We switched instructors, and she took off again. The first guy has lots of students, but things didn't click with my DD.

We must get beyond the mindset that "If they're a college coach, then GEE - they must be a good instructor!" I got news for ya - college coaches get fired every year for non-performance. I'm betting every concrete truck driver doesn't know how to build forms and finish out a driveway. The astronauts that walked on the moon were taught by people that had only seen the moon through a telescope!

Find out some stuff about hitting ON YOUR OWN - it's all over the internet. Make your decision based on what you want you kid to be taught. I'm not going to go into detail, but there is a LOT of bogus teaching out there. The more you find out what works and what doesn't the better off your DD will be.

Andrea Costa does an outstanding job. My daughter has gone to her for 3 years, started at 9 years old, and Andrea has made her into a very good contact hitter. Andrea work's hard with the girls and adapts her teaching to the student.

Some good points Sammy but finding out some stuff about hitting on your own is not for everyone. Some parents want to leave it to the coaches and instructors. If that's the case references and referrals are a great way to find your way to a good instructor. All the ones mentioned have been at it for a while and have had success. Plus here in the Cincinnati area there are only a few hitting instructors, I believe they have all been mentioned. You have a good point for anyone to keep in mind. Don't be afraid to pull the trigger and try a different instructor if things are not progressing as well as you think they should. :)

Must, I agree w/ you. All the coaches that have been mentioned have been at it for awhile. All have had success. At the end of the day if you do not see the results you are looking for, you have to do what is best for your child. I too recommend Chip Gregg from NKU. I have heard great things about Andrea and Cindy also.

You as a parent know your child best, you will have too determine if the coaches teaching style fits your child. If not find another coach.

Chip Gregg is da bomb! He's great with kids of all ages, including us adults who have not quite grown up yet :yahoo: He is by far the best hitting coach my kid has ever had. Don't believe me, then give him a try and see for yourself. He has gone to many clinics and owns and read or studied about every credible hitting video or book known to man, including RVP. It's like this huge flippin' library of fastpitch information. I'm tellin' ya, Chips the best hitting coach in the Cincinnati Area!
