Hi All!

I have a daughter in need of a hitting coach. Does anyone know of any coaches in the Cincinnati area? I was given a couple names but no one calls back. So now I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My daughters really like Jenni Meier....she's been very good for both of them.

I've heard good things about Wendell Hutchinson.

The king of the hill has to be Howard Carrier, but hes really cut back on working with the girls. Gerry Berling (Straightleg on here) teaches the same technique. If i was going to send my DD to a instructor id venture up to Dayton and to my little fat friend Tim Duncan bouldersdad. I havent seen Hutch in action as of yet.

Bouldersdad aka Tim Duncan is a great instructor in Fairborne. We live in Lebanon and see him for lessons weekly. There is also Mary Ellen Bonner out of the Kings Mills area, who also teaches the Carrier/ Bustos style. I think she is full though.

All mentioned are great instructors. I would say Jodi Eickmeyer out of Lets Play Ball as well, located in West Carrolton.

I know exactly what Tim Duncan teaches and would trust him with my daughter if I had one.

The same goes with Mary Ellen and I have worked with both of their daughters.

Many claim they teach what we do and have said in their words, "we dumb it down so the girls can understand it!"

Pick your hitting coach wisely in my opinion.

Tim will teach her how to throw correctly which is the first step in my opinion and most of our girls that are 13 and above throw 60 MPH plus based on other factors as to body type etc.

I wish I would have hooked up with Howard Carrier when my DD was very young! I cannot stress enough how important overhand throwing is, and is absolutely key to advanced hitting. BOTTOM LINE - if your DD has poor basic overhand throwing mechanics, guaranteed she has a poor swing.

Litmus test: Ask someone who claims to be knowledgeable about hitting to explain how overhand throwing relates to hitting - then have them 1) explain WHY, and 2) break down everything into fundamental steps. Actually, when someone tells your DD to do something, she should ALWAYS ask "WHY?" Problem is, kids today are conditioned to never question authority or adults... BIG mistake IMO.

Update your information....she left town this morning.

Still doing clinics however is back in California or half way there as of now.

Those of you that procrastinated missed the boat in my opinion.

I give hitting lessons, but when people call me from central and northern ohio I refer them to Tim being he is in Dayton.
My daughter played for Tim in a fall league a couple of years ago. Great guy.
