A piece of pvc pipe the length of the net and make a small u on the ends , some zip ties to hold it on and then some wire from the outside of the u to the rafters will make a nice little troff for the balls to fall in

add oddly enough, the "foam noodles" the kids use to swim with... the hole inside it is a perfect cover the PVC pipe and keep it from getting busted.

The Zip Net guy would be ticked... I've spoken to the ol' guy on the phone. Nice fellow. Old Timer for sure...

Ok - I'm building a trough. The PVC pipe, zip ties and foam noodle may bust my budget though :D.

I'm going to post a video so you can see it in action. (Unless it doesn't work.)

We use an old piece of carpet and bungy cords to hold it. It's not what you use, It's how often you use it.

Agree. Used to have an old piece of carpet but came across a used Jugs net, this net is nicer as it contains the balls, but either will work.

Tim and I are jealous, because anyone that has seen Howard's or Straightleg's (Gerry's) set up would want to model after those. I think Gerry has posted pictures on here with the boat in the back ground. When my kids no longer used the trampoline and insurance pretty much wouldn't allow me to have one. I took it and used it as my back stop in the basement. With the metal rings it is great. Since we set up our nets marked with Howard's instructions that we use in our clinics, I put a pop up net in front of the trampoline that hangs from the ceiling in the basement. I have extra high ceiling when I built my house, so it works great as a hitting area.

I mimicked Howards' setup and stole a little of Gerry's setup and then had it all retract up to the ceiling. Was too heavy for the girls and then the pulley system kept getting jacked up from all the balls slamming into nets. Hence me getting the zip net. Simpler was better since I have to use the garage for something besides storing the big ol' boat like Gerry does.

Anyone who I worked with at home remembers my basement as the " Dungeon". Not alot of room, lighting ****ed. Always cold. An expensive or fancy net there would be like putting lip stick on a pig.

Guess I should tell the wife she was right for running me out of there to where I am now.................naaaaaa we know wives are never right.

Interesting. I'm studying how you handled the trough area. The net I'm building will return the ball and place back atop the tee...;)

In my opinion he put the pink around the white PVC pipe for Lenski. :lmao:

Finished my homemade version of the Zipnet Sunday and it turned out very nice. Huge hitting area. Straightleg - I noticed you have a couple of horizontal lines marked on mat - Is that to identify the ideal hitting area. i.e. above the top line would likely be a popup and below a groundout?...

I think the tarp is strong enough to take a beating but the balls will occasionally pop out of the trough area from the impact of the ball hitting the tarp. I may need to hang a heavy blanket in front to absorb some of the impact.

I will try to post a pic tonight. Thanks again for your suggestions.

Above the black pop up / below grounder. Those measurements are from Hitter
I believe 39-51 inches

The nets in his garage are similar.

Next time I go to Howards, maybe I will take some pictures of his garage if he wants to post them I will.

Cool setup he has.

The ceiling of my hitting area. I have 10ft ceilings. I have a light and 220 heater that blow's down on the hitter and me.

Funny Story.
The parents normally sit outside the heat zone and the hitter and I are toasty warm. I do have a propane that heats them some. Tempers the area
One day after a dad accidently stepped into the heat zone after his daughter was coming there for a year and a half went, all my gosh you two are toasty warm and I am out here in the temperate zone freezing my fanny off.

I said did you ever wonder why your daughter hits in a tee shirt.:lmao:

I have seen his. He doesn't have the floorspace you do and has to be a little more creative managing his area. I just have the 2.5 car wide garage and it is pretty packed with junk already. That's why that zip Net concept got my attention. I like the simplicity of being able to open and close it like a curtain.

The lighting looks great in your barn - are those skylights?

That 39-51 measurement seems like it would adjust depending on the height of the Tee / ball placement?

Yes
They are clear panels in a metal roof. Allot of great natural light.
I normally have them hit the top upper half of black with a waist high tee set up.
Looks like good ball flight to me

I have watched my daughter sail many into the gap. Rising line drive. My favorite hit.
