The Breakers are hosting an IFA Rec "C" Tournament on the May 15 -17, 2009 weekend. Tournament will be held in North Ridgeville, OH and run as follows:

Sanction - IFA (New Lower Sanction Fee $10)
Ages - 10u, 12u, & 14u
Format - 4gg* (3 pool, single elimination)
Cost - $375
Awards - Team & Individual for 1st & 2nd in each age group. Paid berth to RLYL World Series for 1st
Concessions: Full concession stand (no restriction on coolers)

Ricky and I both can tell the rec teams that the Rec League/Youth League World Series is a big hit for the rec teams from all over the nation. Ricky, told me last night that his phone is ringing off the hook and I can tell you that I have been answering e-mails about it every morning.

This is a true rec tournament and the World Series is as well. It's about time for the rec girls to have their own event where they play competition that is equal to theirs and not get smoked by a team that should have never been in the tournament in the first place.

Ricky and I are not about money... we are about fairness and what is right for the girls.

Better jump in while you can and a spot is open. Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana teams are going nuts over it and we are highly rated on Goggle search for the event. Actually more "hits" than the Little League Baseball World Series or the Little League Girls Softball World Series.

Ricky and I are doing our best to attract teams to the event.... and will continue hard to bring teams in from out of state to play the Ohio teams in a true rec event.

Tim, with that kind of interest is therea possibility of having an 11u division?

Emmit22: The is 10u, 12u, 14u and 16u divisions. Ricky told me as soon as he started sending the info out.... he started to get teams calling and e-mailing him. I have been collecting recreational softball sites west of the MIssissippi (and continue to do so) and I forward them to Ricky so he can send out.

I think it is going to be a big event for the rec girls. Give Ricky a call or visit the World Series website as I think he is listing the teams when they enter and pay. I think it is a great idea about have a state tournament, conference tournament, battle of the Conference tournament and then the World Series itself all in one week. Every team gets to the World Series event. No disqualification rounds along the way.

Do you need to play in a state tournament or a qualifier in order to play in the Rec 12u W.S.?

No, the WS is open to all. We are offering a paid entry ($450 value) to the first place finishers in each age division. We will offer this for 2nd place too if there are 12 teams in an age group.

We're moving the "Register By" date back to April 22. This is should help those teams that are not formed until spring have the opportunity to play in the tournament.

As the registrations come in I will be providing lists in this thread. I have not received any 14u teams as of yet for the Rec tournament, but it is still very early for the true rec teams.

Can you make sure the teams send their sanctioning fees to me at : 1534 W. Meadowbrook Drive, Loveland, Ohio 45140. Make check payable to Ohio IFA

I got two sanctioning in the mail today from a Florida address where the teams are sending them there. They can wait until the night of the tournament as I will be there if they wish to register then.

This tournament has been canceled. All monies will be returned ASAP. I am sorry for any inconvenience, but there were insufficient registrations to allow the tournament to go forward.
