Question about the IFA

When playing in IFA Sanctioned events, I'm curious as to which bats are allowed and which are not. Are ASA or USSSA standards used? Or are some other guidelines used?

This is from the IFA rulebook

3.2 Bats – Game
Bat standards will be defined in IFA as those defined by the NCAA.

EFFECT – If a batter enters the batter’s box with an illegal bat (one that does not meet NCAA specifications), upon discovery, the bat shall be removed from the game (i.e., not returned to the dugout) the batter shall be declared out and base runners shall not advance. If the batter enters the batter’s box with an altered bat (one that enhances performance by being structurally changed); the penalty for an illegal bat shall be imposed, in addition, to the batter being ejected from the game.

From the NCAA Rulebook:

3.2.1.15 Bats shall bear the permanent ASA 2004 certification seal and not be listed on the non-approved bat list on the NCAA Web site (NCAA.org) or ASA Web site (softball.org) indicating noncompliance with the bat performance standard per the appropriate ASTM testing protocol.

Please note our IFA KENTUCKY Tournaments in Bowling Green. Great place to play and some low entry fees for teams. There are more to come in the Owensboro area as well as the Louisville area. Think we have found two organizations in Southern Indiana that is going to run a few as well.
