Congrats to the 12U Cincy Static Black who finished 2nd with a 4-1 record losing in the championship game 3-2(ITB) to the Matoon Pride from Illinois.

Way to go Static ! ?Who did you beat along the way ? ? How nice ?is the facilty ? ? The Ind guys at Fort Wayne said that place was nearly as nice as the fort wayne dome. ? ?MD


PS --I told you all this bunch can flat out play ---definetly worthy of some top 10 type talk.

Thanks for the kind words & support of our team. The Sportszone was a nice place to play - loved the facility but not too thrilled about some of the gametimes (i.e. 3:30 a.m.) but that's luck of the draw. From my perspective, there were several good teams & I was impressed by how good the overall defense was from team to team.

I thought our pitching, defense, & base running did well. I believe out of the five games we played, we only gave up 6 earned runs & threw 2 no hitters & one 1 -hitter. I haven't went over all the final numbers, but I know we did not get caught once stealing & I think we stole about 60 bases. Our hitting was definitely not in mid-season form but was to be expected given this was our first games of the year.

I didn't not get to see all the teams play but here are the teams we played.

Cumberland Vets (IL) Won 13-1
Wisconsin Twisters (WI) Won 7-2
Indy Blast (IN) Won 2-0
Nappier Villians/Diamonds (IL) won 7-5
Mattoon Pride (IL) Lost 4-3 on ITB

I also want to congratulate the Mattoon Pride - they have a great team, as sound as sound gets, & a great bunch of coaches. The championship game was a nail biter & was one play away from going our way during the ITB - but as the score indicates they were the better team on Sunday.

3;30am ??? and I was complaining about back to back 7;00am starts in Fort Wayne . but 5;30 am wake up calls at the hotel isn't any fun. Is the facility nice ? Spacious ? MD

Have been to both facilities, the Sportzone is nice but does not even come close to the Dome. That place is absolutely incrediable. When will go back to the Dome every year. The only edge to Sportzone is the warm up area it offers a little more the the Dome does.

I agree with Coop24 Ft Wayne is a much newer and nicer facility for indoor softball. Sportzone has only one field and the facility while not bad seems to be primarily for basketball. However the competition is very good as the post above indicates. ?Also as Coop24 mentioned Sportszone has several warmup areas along with cages for hitting.

They have good teams there every weekend.
