Just thinking about the success the Licking County league has had at DII state over the past several years: Licking Valley '13 champs, '14 final 4, Granville '13 final 4, '15 finalists, Lakewood '15 finalist (3 straight titles '08-'10)

My real question is what other leagues have clogged up the final 4 in any division? I'm not bragging as technically I live in MVL territory, I am really curious what teams have had success at the state level simultaneously from the same league.

Who has been the equivalent to the MAC in football?

That is awesome!

But I don't know any power-house leagues down this part of the State, where the teams are playing in different regions........

Licking Valley and Lakewood are in the Pickerington- Central Region and Granville came out of the Mason region. That is a bit puzzling being all 3 schools are within a 15 minute drive from each other but there must be an invisible boundary somewhere West of Newark. Most of the schools around here are D2 so it must have been a numbers game.

In the Central District Division 2, there are 2 Districts, one leads to the Pickerington Regional, the other leads to the Mason Regional. The teams get to pick which district bracket they want to compete in, which would then have 2 teams from the Central District meeting in the State Tournament Final Four. So when the district seeding happens, if the #1 seed picks the Pickerington 1 District, then the #2 seed and subsequent seeds usually pick the Pickerington 2 District. Starting with the #1 seed, the teams go up and place their team in the brackets. So, a school chooses it's own fate. Lakewood was the #1 seed and chose the Pickerington 1 District, Granville was the #5 seed and chose the Pickerington 2 District.

I do not know how they determine which districts go to which regionals. It might have something to do with trying to get the same amount of schools in each regional. That is just a guess but in Div 3, the 2 Central District Champs go to different regionals also.

Remember, up until last year, Licking Valley, Lakewood and Granville were all part of the Mid-State League. The "Risen from the ashes" Licking County League is off to a great start in softball.
