When the offense figures out what the defensive strategy is, (and vice versa) it's NOT stealing signs. I prefer to say that someone is GIVING AWAY their signs - and when you give something away, it's not stealing. A catcher (or any player) who cannot hide her signs, or sets up too early obviously hasn't been taught good technique! Joe A could probably give some great pointers on this - it's called HIDE YOUR SIGNALS, or use a signal strategy that changes every inning. 12u kids should be perfectly capable. Believe me - they had better learn this before they advance to a higher level of play, because the game demands it!
When an opponent "steals" your signs, you should really THANK them! Because they just showed you that you're not doing a good job with that part of your game, and it's something that needs worked on.
Now - adults yelling the pitch location, etc. is just stupid. This is an adult who's either too lazy to teach his kids how to play the game, or has just lost sight of what the game's all about!
