Both the 10U and 12U Licking County Starz went undeafeated in the Inaugural Firefighters Memorial at Berliner park this weekend. The Tournament was well run and a good exeprience for the girls. I want to also give a Thank You to the Pioneers (Jonathon Alder) and Miami Express. Two teams to look out for next year. Well coached and well mannered.

Great job Starz! Way to bring the sticks this weekend!

I would like to send out props to all the teams in the Firefighters Memorial. I watched team after team play in that heat and give 110% everytime they stepped on the field winning or loosing. That says alot for the girls and their coaches. A great ran tournament, good fields and good umping. And most of all a tournament filled with hard playing classy organizations. Again great job to all the girls that played.

Well I would just like to say that it was a wonderful tourney minus a parent of the STARZ team. I need a name and contact number of the Person that is in charge of the STARZ program. I will be calling you ASAP!

For all of those wondering what happened. Lets just say that this "DAD" should never be allowed back to watch his daughter play ever again!
He had enough nerve to make a nine year old girl from the Thunder team CRY on the pitchers mound. his exact words were "Lets run roll this team, smash them to the ground, and send them home, and this pitcher couldn't break an egg"

A 40 YEAR OLD MAN MADE A 9 YEAR OLD CRY!!!! THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN!!!! EVER!!!! i am all for winning but when a little kid hears these HARSH comments, thats how fights start!

So I hope the guy reads this... and the coach of the 10u STARZ should "TELL" the dad he can never come back and watch his daughter play again!

Before you bash our organization and parent too bad, I would like to ask why you didnt include in your post how the parent in question personally walked over after the game and apoligized or did you forget that part. What was said was wrong and was addressed, I just want to help pull this parent out from under the bus you through him under.

There is no excuse for saying something like that, and there should be an expectation that it not happen again. That said, if the guy apologized to the player, you have to let it go.

The guy came up to us after the dad and brother of the girl said a few words He asked what he said?!?!?! He played stupid the entire time rolling his eyes and then said "sorry" The apology was not sincere. he didn't thing what he was saying wrong!!! The apology was for show only!! He didn't mean it! and he will do it again to another girl!!! No second changes w/ this guy!!!
oh by the way... since you did beat us after our best pitcher and catcher's heads were taken out of the game... would he of said sorry if we beat you???

Nice try tho!

I was in town this weekend from Virgina for a graduation and got to come up to Berliner to see my grandaughter's U12 team play. I was very impressed with the some of the competition I saw. I saw some U12 and U14 teams with tons of potential. I would also like to give a compliment to the Nightmare team's 3rd baseman. Can't believe this young lady is only U12. I saw her hustle and own the left side. She was also a leader on the field-talking her team up. I was very impressed not sure who she is but she is going to be one to watch. Good Job to all the teams this weekend-that heat was brutal. Ohio girls are pretty tough!

It just amazes me how someone can post something on OFC about how their team did and the first comment from another team is about a parent. Anyone who has been around softball and I dont care if its rec, all stars or travel hears something a parent, coach or umpire says that is wrong and/or out of place at every tournament, I get sick of after every weekend we see the same post about the same things concerning parent comments. Did we forget that our kids just played their tails off in 90* heat for 6 or more games? Lets talk about that! If we posted everything we hear at tournaments thats all that would get posted. I posted the first comment on this thread and was nothing but positive about every team, coach and umpire involved, but instead of getting comments in return about how well our teams did, we have to get the negative stuff, and this happens every week and its ridiculous. If you have a beef send a PM not a post for everyone to see or read. OFC is not a high school cafateria, so stop treating it that way. Stick to the good stuff...Fun jabs about the coaches poll or playing a team on a roll, or selling a bat. Enough with the negative. Be glad your kids good enough to play travel ball and enjoy the compitition it brings. Its to the point you cant even show your DD things on OFC because of the negativity. Enough already!

Congrats to both Starz teams and a well run Firefighter tournament. Jerry Myers ran an excellent tournament. Thanks. We played the 12U Starz and they hit it and the left side of the infield fielded the ball exceptionally. Coaches and fans were all first class. Good luck the rest of the Summer.

Gotta say...those 12u Starz can hit! In our championship game with them, I'd say at least 3 would've been dingers on a regulation field. Nice job Stan and your staff...nothing but good things to say about your girls.
