Can the runner at 3rd base stay off the base if a ball 4 is called on the batter and the batter runs to 1st and continues to 2nd right away?

You mean when the look back rule is in effect, I assume. Because if it's not, the runner can stand there all day long.

If it is...

Stay off the base and stand in one spot, without advancing or retreating? No.

Stay off the base but be moving in one direction or the other, forward or backward? Yes.

What response exactly is it that you're fishing for by posting this same question over and over again?

I'm not fishing for a certain response. I'm just new to this sight and didn't know the best place to post a question. Thanks for the help.

Well, then...welcome to the forum!

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from posting questions here. It just wasn't clear if you were asking the same question again or trying to clarify some other point.

Just keep in mind that the 10U age group is a huge learning experience- for the players, coaches, and the fans. And, in many cases, for the umpires, too. Everybody has to start out somewhere...

By the way...I was at this same tournament last weekend, but I was umpiring the 18U games. Nice facility and not too bad of weather for mid-October.

Yes 10u is a hUGE learning curve for us as well as our girls, as we played 8u coach pitch this summer. So any info/rules I can collect and learn really helps. So thanks again!!!

And yes it was a really nice facility and great weather for softball. It was the first time our girls played on turf, so they were excited.

Want to give us an idea where in the video the play is or do we have to watch the whole 1:43 to find it?

The video is only 1:09, wish there was another 34 minutes.

Did I stumble into it at the 56 minute mark?

That is probably it lol, I can't believe that turned into this post. I did laugh at the lady saying the girl left 2nd early. She didn't steal and was right on time, it was a nice lead off not sure why you would complain about that.

Sorry, 1:09, typed the 43 I saw at the end of it.

Yes, should have been called out, but then again the umpire would have had to be looking at something other than his indicator.

Frenchy1010, that was rough. Good video quality though.

Could you tell the starting pitcher to stand straight up? Seriously, she would be so much better, just working on that in her living 10 minutes/night all winter.

I could only handle about 3 minutes, went up until the "RBI", tell that kid she should have run hard/fast through the base. And it was 2 RBI's (to the female voice yelling) and if she would have run, it would have been a single too!

What about the use of warm-up donuts in the on deck circle? Not allowed in ASA are they?
