Looking for recommendations for a composite bat

I'm looking for suggestions on a composite bat. I realize you have to swing a bat to really know if you like it but I also know companies tell you what you want to hear. People tell you the truth :)

Here's what I'm looking for
32"
Drop 12 - at least. I don't want to go heavier than what she has now if I can avoid it
Balanced - she is only 10 and isn't strong enough to swing an end loaded bat
1 piece construction - I've read too many reviews of 2 piece bats breaking
No flex handle
Large sweet spot
Good durability
Easy break in period

A couple I'm considering... but really know nothing about. I'm also open to suggestions.

2014 Worth Eclipse/-12oz
2013 Easton Power Brigade F3/-11.5oz
2013 Louisville Slugger Zephyr/-13oz

Pass on the Eclipse. It barely has any barrel surface area. Demarini two piece CF series bats are solid. I wouldn't exclude the CF6 -11. A two piece bat may feel like it has a lighter swing weight than a one piece bat of the same length and weight. Demarini will feel lighter than an Easton of the same measurements. Miken makes a handful of lighter weight one piece bats as does Combat and Mizuno. Good luck.

Curious how tall your ten year old is.... My DD is 14 and uses a 31 but she is a peanut. 32 just seams large for a 10 yr old to me.

Was thinking the same thing, my daughter is 16 and uses a 31. Granted she is on the small side as well.

She isn't super tall - about average height - 4'10"+/- . She is almost 11, she just has a late bday.

She has been swinging a 32 for about 2 years and hits well with it. Its not a very heavy bat - 20 oz so she doesn't have any issue getting it around. I'm not looking to go bigger or heavier than what she has.

Have you considered dropping to a 31" and going up to a drop 10? That way, it is the appropriate length for her size, but not heavier than what she is used to. If that is an option, my DD adores her Xeno. She has hit several homeruns and many doubles and triples with it and we have had no issues with durability.

I was thinking the same thing... May want to consider dropping to a 31". My DD loves her Easton Stealth and has had great success with it. Thought this may be helpful.

I was thinking the same as everyone else. The fact that you wanted a drop -12 says you want more bat speed. A 32" is alot for a 10 year old, I can't even imagine it for an 8 year old...

If it helps, My DD is 13 now, 5'7" and 105 pounds swinging a 31" for 2 years. I'd also have to agree about the Xeno. DD hasn't looked back at her Demarini CF5 31/20 since getting her Xeno 31/21. Her balls easily launch 30-50 feet further per hit.

Here's a site for bat sizing. Hope it helps you:

My DD will be 14 in about a week and a half is 5'5" and swings a 32. Youngest DD is almost 11 and is about 4'9-4'10 swings a 31. Both are cf5's drop 11. They both love them.

I appreciate the feedback but I'm more interested in reviews on bats - not the size. I'm fully aware of what the charts say and I've coached for a number of years so I'm not ignorant to the "standards". I also know what she is capable of. She has done great with a 32" and likes the longer bat - which is why her current bat is a drop 12. She is very successful at the plate. If she wasn't I would get her a different bat.

What I am looking for is strictly recommendations on composites so I can buy her a better quality bat.

Thanks

Completely understand... If it works for her then i wouldn't change it. We have always been Easton bat fans, Stealth and Power Brigades are great bats.

We purchased a 2013 Miken Halo Light last winter. The Halo Light series is -12.5. It had pretty decent pop out of the wrapper and I did notice it got better. Maybe DD got a little stronger too? I dont know...but she liked it a lot. She was an 8 year-old playing 10u so she needed the -12.5. It is a nice bat for the price and very durable so far. Good luck in your search!

That is where we bought our Miken Halo Light. Very nice, very knowledgeable people in there...they have a nice website too. And no I am not affiliated with them at all!

dd is 4'10 105 and swings a 31/21 CF5 Insane. If you are looking for 11 or 12 drop I would highly recommend both the Halo light and CF5/6 -11. Dd has used both in the past and both very good bats. Halo prob a more durable bat IMO.

DD loved her Halo Light when she swung it (she still loves the bat). She moved to a Easton Stealth and absolutley loves it.

thanks everyone. I think I'm leaning toward the Halo Light. I've had other people (outside of FPC) tell me they've had good success with it too. Plus it won't break the bank - which is a definite plus!! :)

You have me curious so I was doing some research and I noticed on the Easton Mako bats when it went from a -10 to -11 the barrel went from 2-3/4 to 2-1/4. So I guess what I'm saying is make sure you know how they are taking that extra weight out of the bat and is it an acceptable method.
