Looking for some info. Fast2home was sharing a few things and was wandering if there is info that can be learned at these long weekend courses?? Coach who has been coaching for a number of years gonna get any different tecniques to use. Everything that I know and teach are fundamentals, is there any great knowledge to learn or share from theses courses.

Well, it's hard to know whether you would learn anything because we don't know exactly what you know. As someone who has taken a few of the courses, I would venture to guess most everyone would learn some things. Most coaches would learn a ton of things. The best coaches I would say would still learn several things. There are things from each course that I have taken and apply regularly.

Having been to five of the courses I would say that there is something for everyone to learn there regardless of what level you are at. The instructors offer a ton of real life expereince as well as the course content.

Do you pass the info along to fellow coaches and help the newer coaches with much needed advise. Most that I know is from experience, observing teams at t-ments and asking questions about particular drills. Or are these classes based more on the psycology of the game. Is each course cover a different part of the game and the last question How many courses???

soft77, Joe and Rich are correct, in that the classes are for all level of coaches (College, High School, travel ect.) and that no matter what level your coaching at, you will still take several skills/drills back home with you. There are 8 different classes in all and each focus on a different phase of the game.

In talking with Hildred about why Ohio, or the Midwest in general was skipped over this year, she would only say that there was a scheduling conflict with OSU. My first question was, is there no other Ohio college/university worthy of hosting an NFCA class? ::) I would think that Kent State, Wright State, Akron or Bowling Green would be viable options? :-?

JoeA, Rich and others...Has anyone else called and voiced there disappointment in not having any classes offered this year in Ohio or surrounding states? I guess that the western/southern alum really don't respect the improvement that Ohio has shown in FASTPITCH over the past several years. I mean OSU is a great place to hold such classess, but it shouldn't be the only option. :'(

The NFCA doesn't exactly make it easy for travel ball coaches. The designation is probably meaningless for the most part, as no one is going to give you a coaching job because you have completed the courses.

These classes are great, but what I'd like are a series of classes focused more on game strategy, and not just the basic stuff. An in-depth examination of an infinite number of situations would be interesting.

I've taken two of these courses; my wife has taken three of them. In addition to all the other good things you get from them, each course has a huge notebook of stuff. They've printed out the PowerPoint presentations. So you've got material to take with you.

In addition, you meet other people just as interested in coaching as you are. The contacts you make can be very helpful. I've kept in contact with one of the instructors from the courses. He answers all my emails and has been helpful in providing extra coaching information and material.
