MONTREAT, N.C.– Montreat College softball's senior day doubleheader against USCB on Saturday, Apr. 13 got rained out, but that did not keep the squad from celebrating its four senior members. The team, along with their friends and family, packed up and headed to McAlister Gymnasium for a midcourt ceremony to honor Cailin Warner, Ashlyn Vickers, Victoria Hill, and Aly Woody .

The following Monday, the Cavaliers concluded their 2019 campaign with a 6-4 walk-off win over local rival Brevard College, a victory that saw three Montreat home runs.

The Tornados took an early 1-0 lead in the opening frame, but Cailin Warner's 2-run homer after a single to center from Ashlyn Vickers gave the Cavs a 2-1 advantage in the bottom of the second inning.

Brevard got a pair of runs to retake the lead in the top of the fourth, but in the bottom of the inning, Vickers would send a solo shot over centerfield to tie things back up. Kelsey Nolasco led off the bottom of the fifth with a double to center and was knocked in on Abby Swilley's double to left for the lead once again.

In the top of the seventh, Brevard evened things up at three apiece. That wouldn't last long, however, as the bottom of the inning only saw two Montreat batters at the plate. Liana Elliot tripled to center and set up Nolasco for a 2-run walk-off home run to center to end the game.

In addition to her homer, Warner went the distance from the circle allowing six hits, two earned runs, no walks, and striking out eight along the way.

Joining Vickers and Nolasco with multi-hit efforts was Elliot, Warner, and Victoria Hill.

The Cavaliers finished the season 21-26 (11-15 AAC), their best record since 2011 when they went 29-20.
