Missing the Game/Players/Parents......

This past year has been one of the toughest for the retired_coach family. We had a Mother-in-Law/Mom succumb to cancer and fought a Halfway House being put in our neighborhood.

During this time (Dec.-Feb.) were at Hospitals and meetings on these 2 fights and we didn't focus on DD's school and social activities like we should have, and we are sorry for that. Her grades took a dip and we didn't react quick enough and she wasn't eligible for HS ball. She also didn't know how to react to her grandmother being in the Hospital and eventually passing away. We also had to make a decision on Summer Ball, and we couldn't let her play since her grades were not what was needed for us to dedicate time and money.

There are other factors involved, but she is doing better now. She has also made the decision that after her Senior year (2009), she wants to join the Marines like her older brother. It is not our first choice, but after having a kid in the Military already, we support her decision and feel she would excel.

We have met wonderful people in our 5 years of travel, and we wouldn't trade our experiences for anything!

Personally I would like to thank the following coaches/people for giving our DD the opportunities to play for you and your orginizations.

Jean May-You gave DD a chance by accepting her on your team and exposing us to travel ball...Thank you!

Joe Abraham-Thanks for running a class orginization and attending as many games as you did...It was always good to talk softball with you...Good Luck at the next level!

Kirt Whiteside/Queen of Diamonds-For accepting DD in the past 4 Queen of Diamonds...We enjoyed meeting you and the opportunities you give young ladies to showcase their talents in one place in front of 100's of College Coaches...Keep up the good work.

Carrie Eniex- Although we let you and your team down this year by not playing, DD really took a liking to you and your style and energy for the game...Good luck to your team and keep up the good work!

David Beckham- Thanks for giving DD a second chance to play...You helped her understand the game better and she improved on her mechanics from your diligent teaching of fundamentals. Also, for your leadership of another Class orginization!

And most of all Jim Clark- You took a kid who was down on herself and turned her around by having confidence in her...Yes from "the shoulders down, she was a heck of an athlete, but from the shoulders up she was a mess", but you stuck by her and she ended up having fun with the game again...Thanks!!!

We miss all of the players and parents we have met, and we wish you all luck this year and in the future.

Retired_Coach -

Was my pleasure having her on the team. Always loved to watch the way she went full out, her aggressiveness on the bases, and the support she gave her teammates. The Marines will be getting a good one - Semper Fi !
