Great story softballmum! Congratulations to your daughter too!

I think too many people get caught up in the politics of high school sports, especially softball. When it really comes down to it, why are so many folks afraid of the high school coach? If you really have your priorities straight, why would you let a disinterested third party dictate what sport your daughter plays? Step back and think about this scenario for a minute. If EVERYONE, with no exceptions, had the backbone to stand up and say that they won't let a dictator rule, it would stop in short order! This is not professional sports we're talking about here. Granted, these coaches have to try to put some semblance of a winning team together, but it really comes down to one important thing. It's about the girl's high school experience, not about the coach!

I hear these stories about "Oh, you just don't know such-and-such coach! He's threatened to not play my daughter if she goes out for (name a sport)!" Tell me... who's in control here? The coach or the parent? Use some common sense, and go with your gut feeling.

Stand up for your daughter - repeat after me: "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it any more!"
